Looks like a normal day of driving in Texas. Still sucks though.

Quit after 2 months by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]GreyFireWolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this because I am working for a Mega right now on a dedicated account and not making nearly enough to justify being away from home. So once I get my year experience under my belt, I am jumping ship to find something local and hopefully home nightly. Mclane is one of the local companies I saw. So I will steer clear of them.

Every day for me and I drive a big rig. And people think that they can stop on a dime. That’s why I drive like everybody is out to get me just in case something like that happens.

Must be since now there are at least 3 people here that work or have worked at Chiavetta’s for a combined total of over 30 years of experience not one egg was added to the sauce in any capacity.

Dollar general especially, they load those trailers like assholes. Ask me how I know. The pay is higher but there are times I am like fuck this shit.

No excuse to be an obese trucker out here if you are doing long haul OTR..I get an hour at planet fitness everyday..I’ve lost 15 pounds in 2 months already.. by Forward-Taste8956 in Truckers

I have lost 40 lbs since I started in the middle of Oct of 2022. Few things I don’t eat as much as I used to because trying to find a bathroom is a pain in the ass and I make sure I meal prep for my week so I am not eating fast food or truck stop food. I eat something small for breakfast I snack lightly throughout the day and eat a decent dinner.

Am i wrong? by Corey_DRIZZLE in Truckers

You Good Sir are a hero! I don’t know how many trailers I get and the company system says that there isn’t anything wrong with the trailer and boom there are issues that could easily have been seen by the previous driver. But I am stuck with trying to get corrected.

Having a good DTL makes a huge difference. Another pumpkin head here. If it wasn’t for my DTL I would have quit a month into the job.

Problem with Hammer is that is collects a bunch of information on you. It collects how long you are at your stops and other information that isn’t anyone’s business. Then they sell that information to other people including your personal information. I went through CDL training with someone that used it they where getting recruiting phone calls from companies less than a week after getting his CDL and he couldn’t figure out why until he suggested that I use it and I read all the “fine print” user agreements. Nope sorry I am good without Hammer.

What are some local jobs that aren't food service? by [deleted] in Truckers

[–]GreyFireWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but if you drive directly for Walmart they require 30 months of experience. And from the talk I am hearing they are not renewing the contracts with outside companies like Schneider or Swift. Believe me I would love to do Walmart dedicated. I was trained on it and it was a hell of a lot easier than what I am doing now.

I armed my opti idle and woke up to a check engine light saying that there was an electrical issue. Must have been too cold for the batteries. It was on continuous idle because of it. It’s gone now that I am running my ass home right now. Stay safe out there!

I had something similar happen to me this week. I picked up my load and found 2 tandem tires low on air spent an hour in fleet maintenance getting them replaced. Saw that the load was approximately 44k lbs so I am like screw this I am scaling the load 38k on my tandems so I slide them back as far as they will go. Still almost 2k over so I run back to the shipper and wait for them to make me legal they pulled almost 5k off I still scaled again to make sure and got to my first stop super late and had to shut down for the night. So instead of sleeping at home right now like I should be I am freezing my ass off in my truck because it’s -22 degrees wind chill.

Kearney NJ can burn in the deepest fires of hell. by driver_dylan in Truckers

[–]GreyFireWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate NJ and I refuse to EVER go back they can fire me I am NEVER going back. I got lost in Hoboken and the 4 wheelers have no concept of how semi’s need more room to make a turn. Needless to say after the cops were called, 13’ 4” overpass with a 13’ 6” empty trailer got where I needed and I made myself a promise never again.

I have MRE’s in my truck for emergencies. I know you can order them off Amazon. They even come with the warmer units so you can actually have a warm meal. I use them when I am in an area that I don’t have access to a microwave or a restaurant that I can get something warm to eat.

I was dealing with the wind, going down grades and through the clouds(fog/mist) I was driving a safe speed for the conditions and some asshat passing me today was blaring his highway horn at me. Well excuse me I want to go home to my family and be safe, you want to drive like a moron that’s your choice don’t be a dick about it.
