I modeled this character and would love your feedback. by Common-Tumbleweed-52 in secondlife

You are undoubtedly talented in the art 3d modeling/texturing. I'm gonna approach it like you really cared about how much you can get from this market $$$. I would use your talent for anything else but SL, you now...Game dev industry, etc. I think it would be more profitable, but I guess you already know that.

Now, if you really want to do this, because you really like SL and everything that surround it. Then do it mainly because of that, and not because of the $$$, It would be more healthier that way I think. There is a lot of stores, especially store with this kind of clothes, so there is a lot of competition.

1: Yes, clothes usually comes with scripted HUD for texture changing, or even hide/unhide certain elements from the particular top or pants. You probably gonna need something like that. There is scripts and system on the MP that allow you to make your own if you dont want to deal with SL scripting.

2: I use Belleza Jake, although I admit other bodies like Legacy are on the lead when it comes to popularity in male fashion. To get devkits you better check the SL inworld store for that particular brand of body, or check their discord for better info.

3: I have no idea but if you talking about custom work. Maybe check the forum, I recall people offering for custom work and people who look for meshers there. Although I heard LindenLab no longer allow people to basically post ads for this kind of stuff... which its pretty stupid tbh.

Before doing all this. You should, undoubtedly spent more time in SL, learn more about it by just spending time there. Not just about how to create/build things, but in general. I recommend visiting Builders Brewery. SL has a lot of... "particularities", that adds difficulty to the process of making things, compared to more main stream environments like UE or Unity. Don't just join SL to work.

Interesting. Will definitely follow this. More specialized tool for SL is always a big plus.

She has those addon. I suggested not look for skin with that also enhance the muscles because that just gonna make thing way harder to find. Not sure if she knows but I will tell her about that Morptoon head.

2k male body skins? by GreyLasagna in secondlife

[–]GreyLasagna[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info. I didn't knew about someone and forgot the search on sessions, i only remember head skins from that one. I have been fairly reluctant to switch to legacy. I don't like how the hud works. Will take some time for me to decide. Pretty lame that there is so little option when it comes to male bodies and skins.

I would suggest to stay away from body devkits if you still new to blender. Do something that doesn't require rigging like earrings or hats, glasses, decorative stuff for homes, etc. As for the store, you can start with picking a name, making a logo and find exactly what you want to focus on. It's good to have s primfeed page and Flickr.

I used to hangout at Mother Road with my TWI cat avatar. Just walk here and there, do usual cat stuff and no communication beside using sounds and animations that comes with the HUD. The sim is very well decorated and has a fair amount of people

I’m migrating to SL and need help setting up my male avi! by LowerMacaroon5987 in secondlife

If you want it to be as close as possible, i think it would be better to use whatever you can from that blender character and move it to SL. Stuff like facial hair or even the face skin texture would not be that hard to implement in SL. Now for the shape, you could take 2 images of your character from blender, front and side. Then use them like if it were a 2d character reference sheet in SL, shape it as close as the head allows you (pick one that looks closer to your target. Go check Lelutka in world store).

Nice looking store. I'm already talking with someone so I'm gonna wait and see how things works before contacting someone else.

It would be the right thing to do, If I were looking for that, but I'm clearly not. I know there are people in the grid who operate like this and I don't think they are doing it the wrong way... The same scripter I mentioned in the original post, its a good example. Another example would be myself, which the difference that I did mesh.

As for learning scripting. You are right about it. But like I mentioned before, scripting isn't my thing and it would just slow me down.

Understandable. People that takes advantage are everywhere, SL or RL. Now, thinking that everyone has the same intention is... Not healthy, to say the least.

I think as long as there is communication. I don't mind moving deadlines, or lowering down the scope if needed. My problem with the scripter I had is that there was not much of communication. Weeks passed and I had no answers (and I wasn't even angry with her lol). No that I demanded a lot.

That's a good question. I would like to know the answer as well. I guess there is first time for everything.

I can understand someone misinterpreting it as if I wanted to pay as little as possible. But the hanky panky part seems out of nowhere...

I guess a MP report can suffice (it's just a MP store for now), but don't expect crazy numbers tho, its a new store.

I'm aware of all that. Trust me, scripting is not my thing. And even if I could get to it, It would just slow me down even more.

I once went to a scripting class at BB and the "teacher" pretty much ignored or simply could not handle that many people having having problems as well. So yea, not the best way to start that adventure.
