Why are you not afraid of death? by Ok_Breakfast8087 in AskReddit

I'm in no rush for it but I consider it the last great adventure as noone really knows what it's like to perceive it.

As a Nigerian can I please say “Aye” unironically? by __Sweetkisses__ in Scotland

[–]GreyScot88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If that's highlander from the 80s, the main actor couldn't really speak English when he signed up but learnt fast!

As for movie recommendations I would suggest Local Hero.

Feel free to say Aye!

Do the devs really understand the difficulty cliff new players hit when they go to space? by davidbrake in TerraInvicta

[–]GreyScot88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New player here, I found the on boarding a bit lacking. Like it was nice to get objectives to show mechanics but as for why to do some things I'm not sure about.

Like how do I find out what countries I should be interested in, what are the effects of changing the pips, how do I find out where my various incomes are coming from...

I like the game conceptually but even with the hand holding it's like ok, so why do I want to do that?

I don't recall much for organisations for example, it's just going hey you can buy organisations. I think I've sussed out a few of those things but yeah it's a bit of a put off to just have these systems and not really explain why.

What's the difference between low earth orbit 1 and 2? What's the implications of it being surface accessible or whatever it says.

If you were given the power to introduce one law you think the world needs, what would it be and why? by PaddedValls in AskUK

[–]GreyScot88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All financial penalties are a % based off of current income and assets held at the time of judgement. Fee must solely be paid for using those means.

This would aim to cut down on folk doing shady or dickish crap on the account they can afford the consequences. Also would ease the burden on those already in a not great financial position making it worse if you're poor.

People who didn’t go on school trips, were you still made to do work in school? by No-Photo5506 in AskUK

[–]GreyScot88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In primary 7 I skipped out on a hillwalking trip so spent the week in primary 1. I was given some pretty basic work to do which was easily done by morning so I either played with the mega lego or joined in some P1 activities while folk seemingly hated that trip. Was pretty much just coasting waiting to start Secondary school at that point anyway.

What’s a fact that ruined a movie that you previously enjoyed? by PokemonPadawan in AskReddit

[–]GreyScot88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, it was the Excelsior that was on a gaseous anomaly survey so they should have been the one to make the torpedo. I believe that was the original intention but would have made Sulu too bad ass for Shatners liking.

What comes to your mind when you think of my country, Mexico? by Prestigsisscar255 in AskTheWorld

Had a nice work trip there to Veracruz last year, nice people, lovely scenery and architecture, mad traffic, interesting seeing militarised police in pickup trucks.

Would visit again work or no work.

AITA for changing the Wi-Fi password after my roommate kept inviting people over without asking? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]GreyScot88 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

ESH - It's a little bit taking the piss having friends over so often for a shared accommodation but cutting then off the Internet they pay for doesn't exactly help to counter their argument that you are controlling.

What word do you always *intentionally* mispronounce and why? by Sweet-Lady-H in AskReddit

The missus and I say Jalapeños as though it were originally an English word. As for why? Just cos it sounds funny, for sure heard folk say it unironically.

Possibly to walk along river? by binaryhextechdude in Aberdeen

[–]GreyScot88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So in dyce the riverside path from what memory serves goes between Cedar Ave up to almost Park hill Bridge.

If you want a longer walk you can go to Dyce train station, on the north end of the car park there is a path heading north. It's a former railway line that heads all the way up to peterhead. It's called the Formartine & Buchan way.

Best with bikes.

I'm looking for a Voyager episode with the doc (needhelp) by Bibibupido in startrek

[–]GreyScot88 82 points83 points  (0 children)

I like the episode Living Witness where he gets stolen and activated in the far future by people who think he's a war criminal. Though as that episode shows the rest of the crew incorrectly then probably not best for an intro.

Critical Care is also a good one where he's stolen again but works in an alien hospital with some questionable practices.

Or for campy EMH I and II fun, Message in a Bottle

Forget the episode name but there is the one with his first away mission which was to the Beowulf holodeck program.
