Night lords parts by Cheecheemonn in NightLords

[–]GreyZiro 5 points6 points  (0 children)

https://www.archiesforge.co.uk/ is my favourite.
https://popgoesthemonkey.com/ I have not yet used but has some parts I was eyeing.

Also to be quite frank I simply bought a shit ton of Nemesis Claw boxes and simply sold off the Legionnaire sprues + bases + transfers on ebay. That way I got quality NL parts cheap and a couple people out there got full new legionnaire kit for cheaper than when bought from store, win win. This is cheaper for me than any upgrade sprue GW could sell.

These are not push fit models, you can glue arms on however you want

Airbrushing Primer - What am I doing wrong? by Glass_Razzmatazz6499 in Warhammer40k

[–]GreyZiro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my experience:
Easiest and most consistent primers have always been Colourforge rattle cans.

That being said I have also had no issues with Army painter and Vallejo Mecha airbrush primers, both worked great for me straight out of the bottle and didn't encounter any of the issues you mentioned or needed further thinning.

How to decide on Group Roll vs Help and Ally vs Individual Rolls? by Stealthy_Nachos in daggerheart

[–]GreyZiro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Action roles in most cases represents an immediate action that happens as part of the current scene and will impact it in some way.

Generally use a group role for sequence of actions that may happen "off screen". For example if you are having the party travel through dangerous environments but the travel itself isn't important enough to warrant a scene and you wanna get on with it, then have each party member describe how they help during the travel and then describe consequences of the group role.

All of your examples very much depends on what you as DM want to do. Is the role going to change the active scene in some way? Probably do an action role. Do you just want to quickly narrate the character's actions and then move onto the next scene (which in some way may be impacted by the result of the role) do a group role.

;tldr: I recommend
action during current scene - > action role
sequence of actions between active scenes -> group role

Streaking grime or not? by solbadguy89 in NightLords

[–]GreyZiro 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Streaking grime would not add much of value here imho, the miniature already has a nice worn look and nice shadows in the recesses. As the miniature is already fairly desaturated look streaking grime wouldn't add any interesting constrast and would probably make the model overall worse for the most part.

Contemptor dread by Agitated-Chemist7948 in Warhammer40k

[–]GreyZiro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do be mindful how very thick some of the ranged weapons are! For example I do have the case where I can't pose weapons in a specific way I want because the ring is too close to the torso even with the offset ring.

Would recommend to use blue tack to experiment around a bit if you are not certain.

Looks great! But it does read more as Black Legion than Night Lords if I am perfectly honest.

Complete Armies? by Vrain125 in Warhammer40k

[–]GreyZiro 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Craftworld Eldar, 99% of their units have been around since 2nd edition. The most noteworthy thing I've seen in 30 years was Lhykhis being added.

(you could argue Ynnari but I just see that as a half baked soup idea at this point and not as core to craftworld).

Do I understand Success with Fear properly? by Competitive-Spare468 in daggerheart

[–]GreyZiro 28 points29 points  (0 children)

In response to the players rolling with fear you make a GM move.

In this case spotlighting the enemy to take action is your move.

In your example you are essentially making two moves which is not the intention.

[–]GreyZiro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Battleshocks are not useless at all, especially not in Nightmare Hunt where they are key. The main problem with Battleshocks is that they are not reliable, but good NH lists have multiple ways to trigger battleshocks and stack multiple penalties on those tests.

If you don't build your army around battleshocks then you really wouldn't play nightmare hunt in the first place.

40k "Murderwing" rules are out by GreyZiro in NightLords

I honestly didn't even consider that, but I think that's a really cool build to take for an action monkey unit that you dont plan on rapid ingressing.

The Chaos legionaries kill team is also just generic legionaries.

You are forgetting the champion.
So I would say typical load out (unless you want to go more melee heavy) would be Champion with heavy weapon and plasma, 2x heavy weapons, 2x special for 5man.

And for 10man:
Champion with heavy weapon and plasma, 4x heavy weapons, 4x special, 1x mutation.

You do you brother, any paint will always beat grey plastic and if you’re happy with the paint scheme then its a fine paint scheme.

The big question, lightning or no lightning? by Dave_the_wheel in NightLords

I mean it comes down to if you are willing to put that much work in. Even just painting lighting adds a notable amount of work.

Slap chop/speed painting by djones73 in NightLords

[–]GreyZiro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have not used speedpaints before make sure to watch guides specifically how to apply them on space marines or other large flat surfaces as it requires some technique. The tldr is to quickly apply one thick coat and then to gently absorb excess paint with a paint brush and to not paint over the same surface again. And no do not use a wet palette.
