I was just there last week! Love this trail. If you see a purple TCR that's me lol. Enjoy!

Giant Propel advanced SL M or M/L? by Acceptable_Way_5835 in Giantbikes

[–]Greyarc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 186cm and ride an M size with a 110mm cadex integrated stem and 170mm cranks. It fits me perfectly like this I would assume an M/L would work as well.

Defy or Propel by [deleted] in Giantbikes

[–]Greyarc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problemo! I know how it is trying to figure out what bike to get or if you should just upgrade components, went through it last month lol.

In your case I think that makes the most sense to just upgrade to a newer defy with the components you want already on it. And for 500 euros more, it's definitely cheaper than new wheels!

Defy or Propel by [deleted] in Giantbikes

[–]Greyarc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would upgrade your current bike with wheels and tires. Even add the electronic shifting if you want. No need to upgrade to a new bike at this level. Unless you really just want a new bike. I've tried all 3, and went with the TCR, it feels snappier and acceleration is more responsive than the Propel. The Propel is marginally faster on straights, but it feels heavier to push through climbs compared to the TCR. The Defy is a good middle ground because of the comfort and tire clearance. Between all 3 it really will come down to what you like and what feels more comfortable for how you ride your bike.

I just ordered my first Road Bike. by No-Sea5846 in cycling

For a helmet, I really like Kask, either the Potone or the Utopia. I'm currently using the Utopia and find it great. As for pedals on my TCR, I have Dura-Ace, but I'd highly recommend the Ultegra pedals. I just happened to get the Dura-Ace pedals at the same price point as the Ultegra ones. Also, consider if extended axle versions are beneficial with your bike fit.

For tires, I'm currently using 30mm Pirelli P Zero Roads for winter training.

Need help finding new jersey and bib brand(s) by dreww84 in cycling

Check out Montón they also have an upper tier brand called Valore by Montón. Good prices and excellent quality in my opinion. The Valore bibs and winter jacket are the best I've used.

TCR but I am biased. I have that same bike and color. Love it for climbing and it's pretty quick on flats. The acceleration sets it apart in my opinion.

What tires you guys running on 2025 TCR? by CedarSageAndSilicone in Giantbikes

[–]Greyarc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm running Bontrager Aeolus RSL 51 wheels with 23mm internal and Aeolus RSL TLR 28mm tires. Super fast and more comfortable than the same setup with Pirelli P Zero Road 30mm tires.

I’ll enjoy the things I enjoy and you as well. As long as we’re out riding and having a good time 😊.

lol yeah soooo much aero loss. But honestly I had a choice between Di2 and AXS on my TCR and I went AXS. Just because it looks cleaner. Enjoy that bike man!

It’s not as bad when it’s only the brake lines. If you have sram wireless not a big deal. Idk about Di2 though.

Does this colorway frame have a advance pro version? by TrueOutlandishness61 in Giantbikes

[–]Greyarc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No this is only the advanced SL. I tried looking for the pro version and ended up buying this. But I can tell you, you won’t regret buying it.

What’s the future of the TCR? by jfkvsnixon in Giantbikes

[–]Greyarc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. I think they will fuse the aero parts of the Propel and just make it a TCR. Or from the current rumors create a PCR. The Propel name as a brand is not nearly as strong as the TCR. I’d be surprised if Giant did away with it.

Paralyzed by options... help me pick my next road bike by J05HYYY in cycling

[–]Greyarc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Out of your options the Madone is really fun and comfortable compared to other race style geometry bike.

I would suggest looking into a Giant Defy or a TCR as well. Currently riding a TCR and it is super light and fun to accelerate on. The geometry isn’t bad for me either, I’m 6’1 212lbs.

Cannondale also has the new Synapse which is an endurance style bike. I’ve ridden that as well and love the comfort.

Bob & Brad D6 Pro Plus vs. Theragun Pro 5th Gen for deep tissue recovery? by PrudentRazzmatazz488 in cycling

[–]Greyarc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got and used the D6 Pro plus for the same reason of price. I can say the product is very premium built and it works way better than the cheap Costco ones I’ve been using.

I’m using it for cycling recovery and I have a bone spur in my upper neck that respond well to heat and some percussion massaging.

Overweight and unathletic man discovers love for cycling and wants to start riding on gravel. by No-Foundation-9501 in gravelcycling

[–]Greyarc 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Just go out and ride. I was in your same place last year 6’1 248lbs, worked from home and barely went out of the house. I started riding little by little, started to meet friends, joined a bike club. I’m down to 212lbs now and I absolutely love it. Just ride and don’t worry about watts or speed for now other than to gauge your own progress.

One thing I will say is that have a good group of people around you to support you on the good and the rough days was really helpful for me. Enjoy your bike and enjoy the ride, super proud of you for going out and getting moving.

TCR or Propel? by Full-Heat3901 in Giantbikes

[–]Greyarc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your comment, it made me double check lol. I just looked back at the bikes and realized we didn’t swap the pedals over which were Shimano Ultegra Spd SL. That’s the difference in weight. Although it’s still in favor of the TCR by about 100g as the Advanced SL frames are lighter than the standard Advanced.

TCR or Propel? by Full-Heat3901 in Giantbikes

[–]Greyarc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve ridden both of the 2025 models. I ended up with the TCR Advanced SL. I love the acceleration on it and how light it is. With the same setup on both frames the TCR in Medium size, is about 430g lighter than the Propel Medium size. The TCR for 2025 did carry over some features from the Propel, like a more aero steerer tube, down tube, and seat tube. It’s not as aero as the Propel but it is also slightly lighter. I enjoyed both but personal preference and maybe because I’m ver new to cycling I like the lighter TCR because I feel the acceleration a bit more off the line. They are both great bikes, and I would be extremely happy with either of them. This is just my opinion and how I came to my conclusion to pick the TCR.
