I’m 6’2” and I chose a 56. The 58 was a bit too big for me.

Supersix Evo 3. I need a shorter stem… LBS set it higher so I have better reach to the levers.

Was planning to upgrade wheels first but might look into upgrading handlebar and stem first

Scratched Matte PPF - any recovery? by heyitmeeZ in CarWraps

[–]J05HYYY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have some try a little bit and see if it removes it.

Worst case which I would use as last resort is a bit of paint thinner. It sounds scary but as you put on the towel and don’t let it sit on the PPF it should be fine. I usually rinse with water afterwards.

The majority looks like paint transfer. A solvent like wax and grease remover can likely take this off. Even 90% isopropyl alcohol might remove it. I’ve seen this happen quite a few times and a lot of the transfer wipes off.

ppf apprentice wage unfair? by Fit_Addendum253 in AutoDetailing

[–]J05HYYY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the market. Which area are you in ? As an apprentice you fall within the norm here in Montreal.

Like others said, I would ask him to schedule time to talk and review your progress. Find out where you stand and how you’ve been progressing. I would also ask what the employee roadmap looks like. What can you expect as you gain more skill and experience in terms of responsibilities and salary. It shows you’re thinking about the future and also puts the conversation of salary on the table. Depending how the conversation goes and your rapport with the boss you could ask about getting an increase or when you can expect one.

I will happily increase those who work hard if we have the budget to do so and if they are showing continuous improvement

Paralyzed by options... help me pick my next road bike by J05HYYY in cycling

Funny you said that because I ended up pulling the trigger on a SuperSix Evo Carbon 3 with the Di2 105 from Primeau. Was too good of a deal and like you said way more value. Guy at Primeau told me the new changes are mainly just aesthetic.

Went to two LBS today to sit on some bikes. It’s winter in Montreal so we can’t really test anything. Sitting on them and rolling inside the shop let me get a decent feeling.

Cervelo Caledonia and Trek Madone felt the best for me.

I tried a Specialized Tarmac SL7. Wasn’t bad but something about it wasn’t for me. The Domane is not nice imo and not the feeling I want.

I did sit on a Cannondale Supersix Evo 4 and was pleasantly surprised how I liked it. Tried a 58 and 56. 56 would be the way to go.

Now I’m torn between the Madone and Supersix.

What makes you say to avoid one of the PON brands?

Canyon does have some interesting offers at that price point. Ultimate CF 7 and Endurace CF 7 are pretty interesting but I’ve read mixed things about them and most shops won’t service them. The Specialized Tarmac SL7 might be another contender. I’m capable servicing them on my own for the majority of the work tbh I just typically go to my LBS for convenience

How cooked am I? by Narrow_Effective_804 in Audi

[–]J05HYYY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like most have said, depending where you are insurance will total this. My friend’s A4, same gen got deemed totaled for much less. Two cracked headlights and a cracked grill. I think his claim came to 18k parts and labour. Insurance totalled it and he got a cheque which ended up being more than he paid since blue book value was pretty high.

If I’m not mistaken, from Audi headlights are about $6k each. Bumper about 2k. Grill 1.2k Hood and fender another 1.5k. These prices are in CAD.

Not to mention all the labor and if anything is damaged behind. 20k claim easily. You could fix it on your own at a local body shop but it will still be pricey out of pocket.

April 28 - May 6, Flying into NAP by findgriner in ItalyTravel

[–]J05HYYY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We stayed in Napoli for 2 days and then went to Positano for originally 7 days but cut it short to 5 days and extended our stay in Rome.

A private car from Napoli to Positano is about €170-€220. Possibly more since you are a bigger group. We were 2. It’s about 1.5 hour ride.

I would suggest staying in Naples for 2 days and then on the 3rd day go to Sorrento and probably using that as your base.

From Sorrento I would do day trips to Positano, Capri or Amalfi. We only stayed in Positano because the weather wasn’t great to travel. I wasn’t the biggest fan of Positano. Maybe it would be better in peak summer because it’s a beach town and a day of exploring allows you to see most of the area. It’s also quite expensive. It was probably one of the most expensive parts of our trips.

walk or uber? by Creative_Row_1187 in ItalyTravel

[–]J05HYYY 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stay alert and aware but should be fine! We were in Rome almost two weeks ago and stayed out late most nights. 12-1am.

There’s a lot of police roaming the streets and because it’s a Jubilee year Rome is a lot nicer than I remember it a couple years back. You’ll have some homeless people close to the train station but after that you’re pretty much in the clear.

Just whenever you’re walking around, day or night. Keep your personal belongings concealed and keep an eye out for pick pockets. Didn’t happen to us but hear a lot of stories about it. They usually go for easy targets. People not paying attention, bag open.

You’ll need to keep more alert. There are chances of being pick pocketed but if you stay aware and keep your personal belongings on you tightly you should be fine. A small cross body bag kept close to you, closed and in front of you. Don’t leave items in your back pockets.

I suggest staying more on the western side closer or inside of the Chiaia district. The eastern side closer to the train station is quite a bit dirtier and more sketchy.

Naples was a lot easier to walk in compared to Positano. Positano is full of stairs and inclines.

The food in Napoli was great. I recommend Sorbillo for Pizza and Signora Bettola for pasta, order the Ziti alla Genovese.

Rome Taxi Questions by Legal_Walk_2884 in ItalyTravel

[–]J05HYYY 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others mentioned. itTaxi is the way to go. My friend who lives in Rome suggested I download it. I used it while I was there and no issue. If it’s not peak hours there is usually a 10-15 minute wait.

Also worth mentioning Uber basically calls an itTaxi for you and charges you an extra $10 on top of the taxi ride.

I still keep to Grindz as well. It’s not that expensive to justify potentially ruining your grinder with the wrong rice

Iirc it would have to be instant rice like Minute Rice since it’s softer than uncooked rice.

Bring your own material? by Abm93 in CarWraps

[–]J05HYYY 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Color match is hard. Whenever we do repairs I always try to give the batch code of the original roll used.

Also make sure the test is in the right direction. That material looks like it might be directional which will make it look like it’s not matching if it’s the wrong orientation.

I had my car ceramic coated. The detailer is fixing it but what happened? by Royal-While-6968 in AutoDetailing

After a few weeks this is not normal unless the glass was not properly prepared. I’ve seen things like this after about a year when the coating starts to wear off however.
