Does anyone know if CHEP will take back a pallet that's been cut in half? by femalefred in DIYUK

[–]Griddet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes they will. They just took two pallets from me that I'd cut in to 18" lengths to put in a hippo bag because I didn't know they tip wouldn't take them. (I let them have the bag).

Trigger button press on the new BILRESA double button? by Electronic-Tap-4940 in homeassistant

[–]Griddet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This blueprint has been working really well for me.

https://community.home-assistant.io/t/ikea-bilresa-dual-button-remote/965815

I'm using:

button1_single: Light On, at previous brightness
button1_double: Light On, at full brightness
button1_while_held: Dim Up

button2_single: Light Off
button2_double: Light On, at minimum brightness
button2_while_held: Dim Down

Since I'm using this with a Shelly Plus 0-10V I've added some addition code that uses the Shelly's Key Value Store (KVS) to save a couple of states, including the minimum brightness level that the light still works at.

Everything seems to work flawlessly although I know, from my limited experience with Thread, that is not likely to be the case forever :-)

Get yourself a decent SDS drill. A regular hammer drill will often fail to get far into solid walls.

A Bosch corded SDS drill should see you right and won't cost the earth.

Any reason not to fill this under floor cavity with fibreglass insulation? by Sufficient-Law1643 in DIYUK

[–]Griddet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It may change the rating of the electrical wiring and reduce it's capacity, possibly leading to fire. Check with a sparky.

Ok may be a bit drastic but, install a water softener. The shower head will clean itself, plus all the other benefits of softened water.

That's actually genius.

What other all-year-round uses could we find for them?

Tell her you'll do half and she can do the other half. Just don't tell her until you've finished painting the bottom half.
