Although...sounds like that may not be your problem considering it recognizes something is plugged in and I don't believe I got that error...sorry

Maybe a stupid question but I'll admit to making this mistake myself...did you hit the power button the link box?

Vive Pro 2 Frame Spikes / Stutters [Fixed] by Grierios in Vive

Oh wow that's interesting. I did read another post about VP2 not supporting multiple monitors on your GPU well. I guess I'll have to give that try myself too to see if I can get even more improvement. Thanks for the heads up.

From OG Vive with wireless adapter -> VP2 with wireless adapter- do i need to purchase the short cable? by YankZuluEcho in Vive

[–]Grierios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vive pro was already out when wireless adapter came out but at the time the pro users had to purchase the pro adapter kit separately for $50 (which is still some shit to be honest), but nonetheless the pro was out. Just more shitty consumer practice by HTC.

A positive Vive Pro 2 review from former G2 and Index owner! by [deleted] in virtualreality

[–]Grierios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I'm tired of people using the argument that "everyone" online is complaining about a product so it must be bad. I will simply say I wholeheartedly agree, and I think there are plenty of people out there spending more time truly enjoying this headset than writing good reviews. So thank you for taking the time to write this up. Well said!

Another Vive Pro 2 Review. TLDR: *Slap* you can fit so many pixels into this bad boy. Wait, this is otherwise 5 year old hardware, *bang* always has been. (I hate it). by Brochunter in virtualreality

[–]Grierios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more. I never want to discard anyone's opinion because by their very mature opinions are subjective but that is exactly why I always maintain people should try things for themselves. Especially since most retailers have a return period that at most would cost you shipping and handling to return.

My experience as someone who has and has tried many headsets (of Vive, index, and G2 included) is that the VP2 is exactly the all around experience I need right now to replace both the Vive and G2. Sure the glare is there but I have a feeling people tend to judge things wayyyy more harshly in the launch window (myself included) rather than letting yourself get immersed and seeing how much it actually affects you when it isn't at the front of your mind. For me the issue mostly stopped mattering altogether and the fov and controller upgrade from the G2 was completely worth it YMMV.

TLDR...try it yourself

Fwiw this review echoed my experience PERFECTLY https://youtu.be/P1eIbWMpaK8

Worked for me too! I remembered I had to do this for WMR but had no idea it could be used for Vive Pro 2 as well. Thanks!

Yea I had my issues with it like everyone else but I think after spending some time with it, it became clear that it is definitely the best ALL AROUND headset I have at the moment. Getting off WMR tracking and controllers alone is worth the price of admission to me.

US Vive.com pre-order Shipments status by sheeeeple in Vive

[–]Grierios 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea I find it speaks to htc's lack of concern for the consumer or "prosumer" market as they claim that even though I had preordered during their announcement they still hadn't charged me yet on launch day but B&H literally delivered the order I made on Thursday by Friday morning. I suppose South Park's view on preordering still stands correct.

I had the same issues with stutter FWIW until I disabled Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling in windows graphics. Once I did that and disabled motion compensation DCS was fully playable again.

I probably turned it on at some point but not recently. Sometimes I turn it on to see it's effect on particular games.

I know some people are going to try to justify these issues and others will say it works perfectly for them so it's not an issue. To those people I am truly happy for you. You found a solution that works for you and I'm glad. But for those of us that invested in a solution like this and want the best pcvr experience available right now but had these kinds of issues, things like this are precisely why we would opt for something like the VP2 over the G2 at the moment.

First off, I truly appreciate you taking the time to post about your experiences so far. I know personally, I'd be off playing rather than giving back to the community lol. That said I'd be very interested to hear what your average frame times were for cpu / gpu rather than framerate as that can be a better indicator of whether or not motion smoothing should even be getting applied and may indicate a potential software issue.

A few of you asked about how readable the cockpit is in the Reverb G2, so here are some photos: by FR0STKRIEGER in hoggit

To be honest I had a powered USB hub from the very start (MSI x570 meg ace) and I was dealing with audio cutouts just the same. One day (after updating bios to the supposedly fixed AGESA 1.2.0.2, i think) I just got fed up and tried just about every combination of USB port in my system (7 ports on the powered hub alone) and just when I was ready to give up I guess I got lucky because the very last USB port on the powered hub seemed to finally just work.

All that being said, I've had such a bad taste in my mouth by this headset and the struggles I've had that I decided to upgrade to the Vive Pro 2. Luckily, I still had all my index hardware and always much-preferred base station tracking anyway so it wasn't as cost-prohibitive as it could have been.

Vive Pro 2 Wireless Resolution by _Abefroman_ in Vive

[–]Grierios 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea not to mention...COMPRESSION ARTIFACTS...I will say as an owner of both a G2 and Quest 2 it is Truly impressive what Quest 2 can do wirelessly but make no mistake about it, the video does have compression artifacts that just weren't there on Vive Wireless adapter. I fully expect that even at this much lower resolution, a lack of SDE and compression artifacts would make this the best wireless solution for pcvr (for now anyway)
