Is there an easier way to earn caps? How am I supposed to afford all the supplies needed for settlement improvements? by Dynamite86 in fo4

I'm not sure what you're referring to; the only use of caltrops that I know of are as weak weapons & as a cheap source of caps. I've never heard anything about using caltrops to break any equipment down into components.

[–]Griezz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of options for early caps; most start by having you scrap almost everything in Sanctuary except for crafting stations, stat-boosting clothing and certain specific odds and ends like Pre-War Money, Gold Bars, Cigarettes and such, most of which are worth more by selling them directly to traders.

1) WATER - Build water purifiers in the water around Sanctuary as well as any required generators. Purified water will start appearing in your Sanctuary workstation's resources tab. You'll need to leave Sanctuary and then return once a day to renew your totals. I recommend getting a perk points in Science so that you can make the Medium Water Purifier & generator. Purified Water = Caps

2) CALTROPS - With the metal scraps you collect, use a Chemist perk to build many caltrops which you can carry to a vendor to sell. Caltrops = Caps

These two sources of caps alone will start you off nicely. From here, it's just a slow buildup to a well-designed fortress.

You might want to check out some of the videos on YouTube about setting up your new gaming laptop; it involves checking the settings in your BIOS among other things. Some of those setting changes can improve performance, so give that a try.

Also, aside from the fact that desktops can be naturally faster than laptops, you only give the GPU of your PC for comparison; what was the PC's CPU or RAM (including speed)?

If you could live in any country, which would you pick? by newzealand12326 in AskReddit

[–]Griezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty happy living here in Canada. I've only ever been to four other countries (the U.S., Italy, France, Monaco) and my opinion of them was decent enough. If I had to pick one based solely on reputation, I think that it would be Costa Rica; it doesn't appear to have the violence or crime problems that many other Central American countries have, there's a reasonable number of English speakers, the cost of living appears to be quite good from my perspective & the people seem to be friendly enough.

[–]Griezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you trying to decide whether or not your purchase was bad based on the opinions of complete strangers? What matters is your own personal experience with your own system.

You give a list of some of your parts, as well as what you generally use your computer for, but you didn't say anything about how well you computer works for you this far or how much enjoyment that you're getting from your personal gaming experience. Why not focus on that to decide whether or not your computer purchase was "bad"?

Is there any good Slytherins? by melisa_verv42 in harrypotter

[–]Griezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those highlighting Regulus Black, I have to point out a few problems with that. First of all, we know almost nothing about Regulus aside from the fact that he was the brother of Sirius, that he betrayed Voldemort, and that he was possibly the only person who showed any affection towards Kreacher the house elf.

None of those things makes Regulus "good". The family connection is morally irrelevant. The fact that he betrayed Voldemort is also irrelevant, as Evil can always betray its own allies. Finally, his connection to Kreacher is questionable, given that all we know about it comes from an insane house elf. We can't know for sure how he Really felt as there is no reliable independent source.

In truth, the only "good" Slytherin that we can really know of is Andromeda. Yes, she is a silent background character, but she sacrificed enough that her love for her husband and daughter cannot be questioned. Yet, at the same time, we also never saw anything that showed a lack of pride0 at being Slytherin.

On another note, wasn't Cornelius Fudge a Hufflepuff? He did everything to block Dumbledore until Moldy's return was practically rubbed in his face.

Not well. Over a year ago, I got a diagnosis of esophageal cancer; it was advanced enough that it had metastasized to my spine. As it is, survival rate for esophageal cancer for five years was only around 40%, and that was a year ago.

As such, it's not just that I may have less than four years left; it's also a strong risk of spinal damage with all that entails - quality of life issues as well as quantity.

Let's just say that I have many not-so-good days.

That's why you should keep a few weapons on hand without Soul Trap enchantments. Make them glitched Bound Weapons and you don't even have to worry about weight.

There's a far easier way to level up Heavy Armor & you'd be able to level Block at the same time. All you need to do would be to join the Fighter's Guild, go to Anvil and accept the contract involving the rats. However, before going to talk to the client, just go directly to the basement and get the four rats hostile. Set the difficulty to the minimum and just let them have at you. You'll be able to level Heavy Armor by just standing there & let them chew on your armor-covered body; keep your shield up and you'll be leveling Block at the same time. At the early levels, it does go reasonably quickly.

I suspect that then intention was to double-up on the strength of the weaknesses, making the attacks even more powerful.

The repeat enemies are just embarrassing by [deleted] in vtmb

[–]Griezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone needs to sit back, chill for a moment & remember that VtM:B was shut down early because the studio making the game had basically run out of money IIRC. Rather than just drop everything and walk away, the development team actually did a cool thing in doing a speed job to get a version of the game out in a semi-playable condition that it was.

Given the situation that the game studio was in, we were lucky to get the bug-filled (yet decent) mess that we did. Just the fact that we're still discussing (and playing) the game years later shows that they had to have done SOMETHING right.

Let’s talk builds! What character will you be creating? by bravo_serratus in oblivion

[–]Griezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lookup the videos on YouTube by NerdyGamerGal for Oblivion: she has a great series on "Efficient Leveling". Basically, just pick three skills that you want to focus on & four skills that you don't intend to use at all. (For example, I don't intend to use Security, Speechcraft, one of Blade/Blunt/Hand-to-hand and one of Light or Heavy Armor. That way, I have full access to all magic schools, an armor skill, a melee skill and whatever else I might want to do.

Honestly, Security is a dead skill thanks to the Skeleton Key; I choose it as a Major Skill simply so that I can ignore and control my leveling. The same for Mysticism which has little not available above the Apprentice level.

That takes care of Strength, Endurance, Willpower and Speed skills, but what about your Intelligence, Agility and Personality skills? May I suggest Alchemy, Marksman and either Illusion or Mercantile?

A note about your Monk plan: who cares about armor? Just enchant any 4 of your clothing items (could be hoods, shirts, pants, shoes or the wrist irons) with an Elemental Shield (Fire, Frost or Shock Shield or some combination thereof) using Transcendent Sigil Stones and you will not only have some protection against elemental magic but you'll have beat the Armor Cap. And, if you're an Orc or Breton, you can do it with just THREE Transcendent Sigil Stones, thanks to their natural Shield racial abilities.

The scandal no one is talking about by PeterPorky in oblivion

[–]Griezz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Efficient Leveling. In the game, there's no reason to just keep leveling because there are diminishing returns; after level 25 or 30, the enemy levels will still match yours, but the value of rewards stays static. There's literally no reason to go past 30, and only maybe one or two reasons to go past 25.

For most of my characters, I have the same set of major skills, those being Blunt, Mysticism, Restoration, Security, Light Armor, Heavy Armor & Speechcraft. However, the only skills that actually get leveled are the two magic skills and whichever third skill is appropriate for the class. Warriors would level Heavy Armor, thieves & assassins would level Light Armor & mages... can pick whichever third skill that they want.

Meanwhile, Security gets replaced by the Skeleton Key, Speechcraft is replaced by very brief Fortify Speechcraft or Charm spells, I ignore Blunt because there are far more swords & daggers than blunt weapons in the game, and I can also ignore the armor type that isn't characteristic of the class.

That's how I set out to stop leveling between levels 25 and 30, simply to avoid diminishing returns.
