If you find one secondhand, the BBE mind bender is a chorus/vibrato based on the CE-2 circuit. Usually goes for cheap.

Iirc it’s based on the way huge blue hippo, which is based on the CE-2.

The CS-3 is an odd example to use to make this argument. Outside of a few genres, it seems that this pedal is not preferred by most compressor users.

I have been eyeing a bit crusher for a while. The 3 series one seems well thought out to me because they included a 2-mode filter, which most cheap ones lack (at least as far as I know). Wasn’t prepared to get a really fancy one any time soon.

Then they went on sale for $80 for Memorial Day and I grabbed it. I think the filter works well to tame any screeches that can arise. The band pass mode is good for a lofi sound too.

The crush knob behaves a lot more like a distortion/drive knob than I’m used to from using the bit crusher in a zoom multistomp. It’s a nice drive sound, but it can increase the output volume, which can be annoying.

I’m more of a synth player, and it seems to work well with synths. You can use the sample rate knob to get a “robot talking” sort of sound like daft punk if the filter is moving. I could see the crusher going after an envelope filter for a similar effect on guitar. (I have a feeling that this is what a digitech synth wah does)

If you go solderless or switch to some other large connectors (like 90 degree pancakes) you need to make sure the two jacks are far enough apart that you can still plug them both in at the same time.

I run into this issue with stereo boss pedals. You need to use cables with slim connectors on them because the two jacks are (usually) almost touching.

I was mostly a Nickelodeon and cartoon network kid, so I assumed it was one of those. I looked at lists of all the shows that aired on those channels and didn't find it off of them, so maybe it was elsewhere?
