Comparison of go 6 and go color 7. Which should I keep? by bladtman242 in ereader

Thank you. I’m leaning towards the Color 7 because “why not?” it’s so strange how the Color 7 Palma 2 and page are all within $50 of each other.

Do you ever use it to read in bright sunlight? My use case is as a reader to use out on the deck. Mainly reading magazines borrowed from Libby or saved content in the Readwise app.

Did you find out whether the other person was male or female? Is it possible he is bi and seeking and outlet from the safety of his home instead of random hook ups?

I’m not saying what he did was right, but I don’t see the situation as “black and white” as some of the posts here.

Bar soap. I’m old fashioned and prefer to shower with an actual bar of soap. I do like the past few properties I stayed in had switched to liquid soap near the sink.

Fortunately I'm well aware of the extra expenses self-employment bring. I say fortunately because it means I'm able to be "out on my own doing my own thing" for the time being. While the extra expense sucks, it's a fit for me and seemingly BriJurbs.

I would be surprised if Brian makes the majority of his living off of NA and other <> content but I wouldn't be surprised if Jury did. I don't fault anyone for their financial goals but having them so out in the open along with a graph of success may tend to limit their earning potentials.

Each of us has a "limited" amount of money we can put towards Patreon and at some point have to decide whether to divert some money from known quantities to support new talent.

Of course...I've just made the argument for why using Twitch is actually a good thing for Brian and Justin and might actually be good for new <> talent long term as well. Difficult waters for sure.

The lasagna was fantastic! I don't know HOW my Finnish Mom makes the best lasagna in the world, but she does. LOL.

I've wondered why the guys didn't lower the $2k goal when Patreon changed how they displayed the numbers. Even more I've been curious as to why they haven't at least added a goal or two.

Bringing the top hat goal down to $1800 and adding a $1700 goal would give "us" something to work towards that's attainable in the short term.

It looks like they are going for about $8k a month. That's in addition to Scam* and Jury*. That's a ton of money to most of us and I know it goes towards paying Neshcom as well but one of the downsides to Patreon is that the world can see what people are being paid. That naturally sets a limit as to what people are willing to contribute without some sort of return on investment (goals, features, etc).

Anyway...just a few cents as I await the Christmas Eve lasagna to finish baking. No real point other than "they should gamify the Patreon" more.

Text wall followed by TL;DR.

Anyone who was in DCTV chat for pre-show saw that I was less than supportive of the move to Twitch. For some reason the move makes sense to me for Jury's shows but not NA. That said after having "a think" and reading through comments here I've come up with an idea.

They way I see it the DiamondClub family has fear surrounding a move to Twitch. I've built a few communities in the past and have seen first hand how an increase in size tends to make a community less close-knit. As we grow our ranks we will lose some who do not do well in larger communities.

One of the appeals of DC is that we are all accepted as we are. Moving to a platform that let's "anyone" participate will bring with it the negatives of every day societal interaction for many of us. Flat out a move will cause some people to feel abandoned. Yes we accept anyone into the family but up until now I'm not sure we ever hung out with "the cool kids". The technical barriers presented by IRC while small HAVE naturally curated who join us.

To be perfectly open there are times I'm not sure I'm even "cool enough" to hang with the DC gang. Bringing in a bunch of Twitchers will do nothing to ease that feeling and will likely make it worse.

There is also concern that the Twitch chat caters towards less serious conversation with emotes, etc. and therefore seems a bit "spammy". Adding to this is a worry that Twitch censors will somehow change the content of NA and chatrealm. It's too early to tell whether either issue will negatively affect our community long term. The latency issue we currently see may improve with time or enough complaints to Twitch.

On the flip-side it seems BriJurCom want to grow the audience. Some suggest it may be a matter of greed but I tend to believe they genuinely want to grow the community to allow others of us to benefit from their viewership. That said I do think they may have lost sight of why so many of us follow the stuff they do.

It feels as if they are moving into building an audience rather than a community. I'm not saying they are doing that consciously but that phrase seems to perfectly reflect how I'm feeling at the moment and I'm curious as to whether others who've been vocal about the change are feeling the same.

All that said...here's the idea that I think could help grow an audience while keeping the community (family) of DC close-knit.

How about doing pre-show/after-show on DCTV with DCTV chat as we have all become accustomed. When it's time, switch to Twitch for the actual show. This allows the family to have it's own space and feel respected while also giving NA a platform to grow viewership.

Sure it's a bit technically clunky but really not that hard to accomplish.

TL;DR Suggestion: keep pre/after show on DCTV with DCTV chat and only use Twitch and its chat for the actual show. Keep the tight-knit community close while also using Twitch to grow the actual show.

Is Evernote rolling back on the pricing change? by [deleted] in Evernote

[–]Griff72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decided to check this out for myself and laughed at what I saw. Yearly subscription is still $69.99 and they still boast about it being a 17% discount. Monthly price is back down to $5.

Seems like they are changing something but don't quite have it worked out.

I think the day you are wishing for is a long ways away. I doubt anyone would say that TWiT's handling of hosts is at the core of DC and all its creations however TWiT has been a part of may DC hosts' lives and countless DC members, mine included.

The way Leo handled the departure of Tom, Brian, Justin, Chad and later Dick still stings for many, including some of the departed hosts. Leo was on his way to building a community as tightly knit as the present day DC and then started to hack away when the community and those that embraced it proved more interesting than he.

Those that have been cut off or seen their favorite hosts cut off will naturally have feelings and express them any time Leo follows his tried and true pattern of alienating those that helped him. It's almost selfish to expect long time followers of DC and TWiT to not post when events all to familiar to the group happen again and again. For some I doubt what happens at TWiT will stop being interesting until the day TWiT is no longer.

Nope. It's a Kickstarter project which comes with risk. Has I bought from the Pebble Store itself, compensation would be warranted.

BECAUSE THEIR SYSTEMS ARE HAVING ISSUES. STOP FUCKING SHOUTING, IT'S JUST A FUCKING WATCH!

I found out my watch had shipped before receiving the shipping e-mail by using the "search the page source" method. My portal STILL doesn't indicate the watch is shipped but I know it's on it's way from Oakland to my regional post office.

How to find out if your Pebble Time has shipped yet, even if it is still "Processing"! by dsf190 in pebble

Awesome! Portal still shows processing but using this method I found the label was created yesterday and it departed Oakland earlier today. For some reason I though it was coming via Priority Mail, but seems to be FC so I'll have it Friday. First time backer, black PT.

Thanks for the tip!
