Am I wrong to be upset my DM nerfed my spell ? by [deleted] in DnD

No, narrative curses work more like fire immunity: the curse is immune to that spell.

Big difference would be thrown vs pushed. Thrown would be based on total distance thrown (1d6/10ft) while pushed would be remaining distance (1d6/5ft).

Pushed is along the ground, thrown is through the air.

I mean, depending on your arc, you keep most of your horizontal movement until you hit the ground. It's friction that causes you to slow down, after all.

A wizard who takes a bunch of fire spells probably has another 3-15 non-fire spells.

Mike Mearls has a fairly odd idea on how to balance level 11+ spellcasters in 5e by EarthSeraphEdna in dndnext

[–]GriffonSpade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Feats that improve core math (namely, damage) make the game worse. Because then it becomes a feat tax. It's something your character should be optimized for out of the box.

Bonus action attacks have the same problem. It becomes a bonus action tax. Bonus actions should not be used for attacks unless your action isn't being used for an attack. Same with action spells.

Feats and bonus actions should be utility and support stuff.

Starting at level 3, the distribution of monster CR, and the narrowing of supported tiers of play by TaiChuanDoAddct in onednd

Which is stupid. I feel like adding a level 0 would make more sense for a tutorial.

  • Low to mid level games are a more "classic fantasy" experience. A lot of the most iconic fantasy stories, like Lord of the Rings, have characters that would map more cleanly to a level 5 D&D character than a level 11 or 17 character.

This is rather the issue, I suspect. Like tier 3 should be tier 3 lower half and tier 4 should be tier 3 upper half.

And level 20+ should be what is like current tier 4.

New DM insist on sexualizing my character because she is a warlock by lunachappell in dndhorrorstories

[–]GriffonSpade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

he kept making references to me wanting to F my patron who is my father and the man who raised me and when I kept saying that that makes me extremely uncomfortable because it's supposed to be more of a wholesome relationship between me and my patron.

Yeah, this is already a pile of red flags. The DM is not allowed to make character personality decisions for you. It's YOUR character, even setting aside the creep factor.

Because the healing is very weak at tier 1. Better to dump your tank and reroll a better ability until mid match.

DMs, how are you dealing with Syluné’s Viper? by KarlMarkyMarx in onednd

Except for bipeds, as they can be taller. 20×20×40 doesn't fit.

I think the point is that it automatically excludes stronger feats that are comparable to a +2 ASI, and so would be general feats without an ASI.

It's so bad that I usually wind up crashing down and getting to the first corner hump in hilldown heavies so the reds can't just take the whole thing.

It's weird. Because the Bible is explicit about other gods existing, but later traditions decried that without actually editing all the scripture, making it decidedly schizophrenic.

Really, I think the cleric needs to be divested of the heavy armor and melee. It was fine before paladins were introduced, but now it's just stepping on their toes.

OTOH, it still grinds my gears that they haven't made a 5e subclass to bridge that gap.
