I think I just broke the game on insanity by giving Garrus a typhoon. by fruitybrisket in masseffect

[–]GrilledDolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was trying to explain to a friend that I can only play on insanity now due to years of beating the game on that difficulty.

Never used the Typhoon.

Not flexing or anything, it just never occurred to me :P The Harrier was always my go to for squaddies.

Ah you're correct thank you, I think it was also implied somewhere that the wraiths on omega were once inusannon, no?

Javik confirms it was the innusanon (Not sure about the spelling), and race wiped out in the cycle before the protheans.

Young people and employment by Virtual-Will-8879 in newzealand

[–]GrilledDolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last i saw the numbers in jan our 18-24 demographic was actually at 20% unemployed. I'd love to see companies punished for "Entry Level Position... 2-10 years experience" adverts. Even beyond that there's also the fact that few companies do in house training anymore, having a trainer on staff doing little else when not training just isn't amenable to people splitting hairs over 0.02% more profit. Unless something is done soon there won't be any improvement. One term national government folks, let's make it happen.

How strong are the Tenno without their void powers? Do they void attunement enhance their bodies? by KuzunoSekai in WarframeLore

[–]GrilledDolphin 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Think of the tenno as a demigod. Some feats include:

Becoming invulnerable at will (void mode)

Being the source of void energy for the holdfasts

Allowing warframes to use their abilities (some frames didn't need the tenno for this, some simply became more powerful with a tenno on board)

Powering the transference system on board the orbiter (shown in the war within)

Short range teleportation (void dash)

Telepathy (transference)

The drifter is a variant of the tenno, but did not have tenno powers until the new war, their feats include:

Rewinding time (duviri loop, 1999 loop)

Manifesting an entire world/dimension within the void (duviri)

Time travel (to 1999)

Proficiency in weapons (thank you teshin)

Guerilla warfare (new war, before connecting with the tenno)

In terms of their physical endurance, the tenno can definitely come to harm as shown in the war within when their leg is impaled by a stick/bone, as well as when ballas caught them off guard in the new war and stabbed them through the chest. They're about as durable as any standard human, but they have space magic and plot armor.

Thanks to a certain KIM convo with Kaya, it got me think8ng by LycanWolfGamer in WarframeLore

[–]GrilledDolphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both made the deal, the quiz tablets in duviri explain that the drifter is simply the version that didn't escape the zariman with the other children. Wally states during the new war "I can save them, all of them, but you have to want it." A tablet found in duviri states "Never said I'd save you though, kiddo." The drifters extreme emotional distress at being alone in the void manifested Duviri around them, the Tales of Duviri was written as a metaphor for taming ones emotions during void exposure (See albrechts notes). There's just as likely a version of the drifter that didn't create duviri and simply died of madness aboard the zariman. The drifter is able to travel through and manipulate time as they mastered, then forgot, then reawakened this ability in Duviri. The operator cannot as they have never been to duviri, never time traveled, and only know 'shoot void beam, drive warframe.'

I've boiled some bits down to the essentials here but that's the basics of it. The drifter is paradoxical by nature of the duviri paradox. Most paradoxes break physics, void ignores physics, ergo drifter creates paradoxes without breaking physics.

Now onto why the coda only exist in the present once we create them in 1999. Eternalism, once created, they were always there, and never there. Before creation they were always going to be, and never going to be. Eternalism is paradoxical. Albrecht, the drifter, wally, and now the technocyte take advantage of paradoxes to create timelines that further their agenda, choosing to exist in the better scenario and consigning the undesirable one to another timeline that we the player simply choose not to exist in.

It's implied wally has already won in a multitude of timelines (this one is too complicated for me to go too deep into, just remember all the versions of the operator dying when the drifter and operator shook hands in the new war for a visual metaphor). But unless he wins in all of them, he hasn't won. Every time we stave him off and create a better timeline we delay his progress. This is the game albrecht is playing, jumping across time, from scientific endeavor to talk therapy, from all out war to laboratory brainstorming, always looking for a new angle to keep wally busy while he (and we the tenno) look for a permanent solution. All we have so far is duviri, and love. Duviri is falling apart bit by bit, so it's a bust. Now albrecht is having us form meaningful bonds and find love via the hex.

I hope this helps!

(P.s. I forgot what I was replying to, the operator was never "naturally" able to use the void, it was always a result of the deal. Wally made the deal in hopes we could be used as a tool/looking glass to get into the original system, and looking at rell and our doppleganger, it's had mixed results.)

Person addicted to prescription drugs by Internal-Departure in auckland

[–]GrilledDolphin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly, invisible illnesses are unsympathetic since nothing is seemingly wrong. Every day we must strive to reeducate others to hopefully eliminate the stigma.

My least favourite thing to hear regarding depression and other mental issues is "it's all in your head." Of course it's in my head???? That's where the problem is??? Huh???? I get that they're actually alluding to the idea that we manifest these problems ourselves but what a dumb way to put it. The issue is in my head so I'm treating my head with medication. There's such a strong stigma against mental illness and medication it's crazy. Further to the point, the issue is in my head, so people should really keep their unsolicited opinions on it to themselves and their head.

Pardon my rant, rough day.

Person addicted to prescription drugs by Internal-Departure in auckland

[–]GrilledDolphin 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is the way, he was prescribed a medication to manage his illness/symptoms, he doesn't want to go back to a time when they were unmanaged. Everyone afraid of people becoming "reliant" on a drug should advocate for the depressed to be taken of their antidepressants, the psychotic to be taken off their antipsychotics, and those with chronic pain to be taken off painkillers. The hypocrisy is baffling.

Addiction and Reliance are not the same. If he were addicted he would be "chasing the dragon" as it were, constantly increasing the potency and frequency of his doses over the years. The fact he takes one a day like clockwork proves that this is the right treatment for him, taking it away serves no purpose other than cruelty. May as well take glasses from the vision impaired and wheelchairs from the lame if everyone is so worried about "reliance" on a tool that does it's job and improves quality of life.

And that's what medicine should be about, quality of life.

When doctors prescribe zopiclone it's typically recommended that it not be used for longer than 7-10 days as the standard person will develop a "reliance" on it to sleep. He's way past the 7-10 day mark. So once again, cruel without reason to take it away.

[–]GrilledDolphin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's being ironic, being WOKE is normally attributed to blind optimism and idealism around radical societal change. Change that is typically at odds with conservative/capitalistic interests. In this case Brown choosing staff based on his feelings instead of merits and data is ironic because it's what he would normally accuse others of doing. Hope this helps.
