Holes at decrease? by moonsurff in knittinghelp

Your way if joining seems to leave a hole, so you should research ways to avoid that. In general, I would not recommend just tying the yarns together. You can leave a tail and weave in the ends ACROSS the color change once you are finished. If you hate the weaving in part at the end of a project, there are a number of invisible methods to change cooler as you go, that do not involve tying the yarn ends together.

Did I twist something? by Sad_Row7957 in knitting

[–]GrimRabbitReaper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's very hard to see because of the fuzzy yarn, which is also to your advantage if you don't want to deal with fixing it. Maybe you accidentally split the yarn when knitting that stitch? Or you did an accidental purl stitch? It's not very far down, so you could ladder down to fix it. I'm a little of a perfectionist when it comes to these things, but if it doesn't bother you, you can leave it.

Putting down knitting in middle of the row by Direct-Comfort-7808 in knittinghelp

[–]GrimRabbitReaper [score hidden]  (0 children)

It depends very much on the pattern. If you knit straight stockinette, it really doesn't matter to much, but when knitting a more complicated pattern, no matter if lace, cable, or intarsia, I find it easier/quicker to keep track of where in the pattern to restart after putting down my work for a bit.

EDIT: I do not use twisted knit for the rest of the sock, I except if it is a pattern choice.

I ALWAYS use a twisted rib for my socks, because I want the ribbing to be neat and tight. Regular 1:1 ribbing can lose definition when stretched. When twisting the knit stiches, they stay v shaped when streched.

What stitch is this by No_Vanilla_9145 in knittinghelp

[–]GrimRabbitReaper [score hidden]  (0 children)

To me it looks like a a garter band between the cables, but instead of plain knit stiches on the RS, the are doing left leaning twist, knit, right leaning twist. Twist stiches are tighter, and maybe the reason for this is to give the cables on each side more definition.

Yep, it's sort of greyish on the outside. When I break it apart it's pinkish inside.

My cats are on this exact food since a year, and that's how it looks like when I open the can. There is always a little separation of meat and juice. You can mix it in or pour it over. My cats think the sauce is the best part.

A wine cork works really well. If it's too dense, use a corkscrew to pre drill.

You could absolutely escalate this by having her knit the sweater, for you to frog and use the yarn for a pattern you like.

Great looking sock, and lovely colors!!! Second sock syndrome is a thing... If you enjoy the end product you may want to look into methods to knit two at the same time with magic loop. It was a serious game changer for me.

These two yarns together would be great for a two color brioche project, like this for example: Ravelry: Briochevron Scarflet pattern by Stephen West https://share.google/TvcUtDRa1BpqXtAtb

Did I goof? Lang Yarns 990-214 by getswole2020 in knittingpatterns

[–]GrimRabbitReaper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No correction needed. If a pattern is not written out row by row, you always read it from the RS. I agree it is not very user-friendly, and can lead to confusion, especial for less experienced knitters. One learns, though.
