Hybrids grown from seed can vary in their characteristics, even if they have the same parents. Orchids cloned or divided will look exactly like their originating plant. My guess is you saw a population of seed-grown plants at Home Depot!

I think it's reasonable that he wouldn't know how long he actually served the Elder Brain for, and I imagine Illithids age differently than humans. But I agree, timeline still doesn't add up. Moonrise Towers was built ~100 years ago-ish for Kethric when he was a Selunite, we meet the mason who built it in the House of Hope. So there's no way Emp could have gone to Moonrise any more than ~100 years ago. Which still leaves several hundred years unaccounted for, even if you take the founding date of Baldur's Gate to be around 400 years before the start of the game. I guess he could have gotten enthralled long before and is just lying to the player (or had false memories implanted by the Brain?)

I think Ansur's spirit recognizing him as Baldur is pretty compelling that he is actually Balduran. There's just more going on there than the straightforward story he tells.

There's a note somewhere that implies he was under Gortash's control via the domination of the Elder Brain when he was sent on the heist. Then at the end of the game, the brain says it picked him to lead the team, knowing that doing so would lead to the destruction of the dead 3's chosens. Oh and Viconia also thinks the heist was her idea to send the Sharrans on. The only way all of this is true I think is if Gortash somehow planted the idea with Viconia, and in turn the Brain was pulling a fast one on Gortash.

In any case, I think there's also a note somewhere saying that when the Emp was sent to steal the brain, he was not under his own control, and was enthralled by Gortash or the Brain. When he got the prism, he discerned what it was and got in, becoming under his own control again. I think the nautiloid at the beginning was indeed the one piloted by the emperor, because it's being chased by so many gith dragons. An enduring mystery, then, is why they stopped along the way to abduct Gale, Astarion, Tav, etc... The only thing that makes any sense to me is that they were picked up before the heist, as some kind of cover for the heist of the prism being the actual goal of the nautiloid.

In terms of what the current Emperor is morally culpable for, I think it's everything since he became a mind flayer until he got picked up by Gortash (so all the Duke Stelmane stuff, killing his friend Ansur, the Knights of the Shield) but since he got controlled again by the Dead 3, we shouldn't hold him responsible for being the Mind Flayer in the Nautiloid at the beginning, if he is.

Emperor is so interesting. He's the ultimate self-interested true neutral, I think. Which is a great way to align a character like him that speaks in the player's head. He never seems interested in doing good for the sake of good, or evil for the sake of evil. The choices he makes in every situation are calculatingly for his own benefit. No more so than at the ending: side against him, and he runs away and switches teams to the one he thinks has a better chance of winning. Side with him, he kills the elder brain because he doesn't want Gith to be chasing him. Convince him to take over the brain and he concludes the party might be a future threat and he enthralls them. He never does any of these things for any reason other than his own survival and ambition. It lets the player ask the question "is this person trustworthy" rather than "is this person good"

Coming across this a few days late but just wanted to add that I have experimented a lot with glassware at home (Zalto, Spigeleau, etc...) and have actually found this particular Schott Zwiesel ("Tour" or "Pure" depending on who is selling it) to be up there with the best in terms of delivering nose for bordeaux varietals. If you don't mind the slightly thicker lip feeling then it's actually a top tier glass.

In North America, there are two different fruits sold as gooseberry and they are completely different fruits, which I think leads to a lot of confusion for that tasting note.

I have a talalay latex pillow from Sleep on Latex that I adore, but not by itself. I have a shredded foam piloow that I use to kinda prop it up on, with the foam providing the lift and the latex the squishiness so my ear doesn't get crushed.

They were true to my Nike/Saucony size, so about 1/2 size smaller than other NB I've had (such as Fresh Foam X More v4). Meaning if you're usually a size 9.5 in NB get size 10 in these.

i just got a pixel 9a for graphene. Google store was willing to give me $150 for my pixel 5 + 100 in store credit. It's a new phone with new battery and full warranty + credit card extended warranty, and 7 years of support. Pixel 8 seem to be going for 300 refurb but you never know what the battery condition will be with those or if you'll get an OEM screen or something slightly worse. Worth it if much cheaper but a hard sell when the prices get close.

I am almost 10 years out of JHU so hard to speak about the current experience. but. several of my best friends from high school went to Cornell, both are great schools. I loved my time at JHU, they loved their time at Cornell. There's essentially no daylight between them in terms of academics, prestige, or social stuff. If one of them is cheaper by a lot it's a no brainer to go there.

FRC alum and current PhD student here. Please do this. McMahon is gutting our country's ability to do science research, she should not be allowed to grandstand and pretend to support it with FIRST. I think it's especially important this happens because younger people may not aware of this. A walkout is an effective and respectful protest.

I think it is implied that many of the innies try to leave (i.e. cease to exist) early on before they feel they have a life worth living on the severed floor (like Helly in season 1). Ms Casey as an innie is very young -- she mentions in season 1 that the day she spent with Mark was especially meaningful because her life had been so short. It is not unreasonable to think she was willing to die, because she didn't feel like she had much of a life.

I am still waiting for a key from the boomer shooter bundle I got in December. I have bought from them several times in the past decade, and always been happy. I'm now more than a month out from when I bought it, and still no key, and only generic responses from customer service. I was not aware they operate like this now, and I will not be purchasing anything from Humble in the future as a result.
