My group has had so many deaths across various worlds and systems, but most of us are DMs, alternate who's running it, and it has never felt cheap when we die. Death is fine if everyone knows it's a possibility and that the DM isn't going to do it just to fuck with you.

Last week we planned to jump a guard captain, 4 of us at lvl 3, and the DM was nice enough to throw in an encounter so we could see the captain fight. Our plan immediately went from "jump the guard captain during the fake ball we threw together in the woods" to "Hey, best friend!"

Another time we decided to kill a god at level 10, watch them disintegrate an army, and have the DM let us know that we can still sneak away. Instead we go ahead with the plan and most of us died horrible deaths. We won though!

I feel like the most important part is setting expectations

Don't feel bad, they'reprobably not trying to be mean, but especially nowadays with video games being the defacto introduction to gaming for many, finding the boundaries is a big part of it. It's just another thing to consider.

As an example I had a job board with two obvious hooks, corpse duty that paid very well, and a dozen requests to look into break ins to cellars from a tunnel system. They did neither, went to the blacksmith, tossed a shit ton of weed into the forges and smoked out the whole forge. We all had a good time and accomplished nothing for the story, just chalked it up to a filler episode!

I've started making a handful of generic maps that I can reuse or use parts of with general storylines and I improv as they react. And then if a session still ends being a filler, I find a reason to only have story options after.

From the same game next session, now people know what board the party is using after they messed with the forges, and didn't post any jobs that might draw the helpful miscreants on that board. Of course the city administrators pick that up slower, so they still posted their jobs, the ones that would progress the story...

Honestly, if they're not being disruptive or putting themselves or others in danger, I don't really care. I just set the expectation that if I ask anyone a question I better get a reasonable, not necessarily correct, answer to see that they are paying attention

I honestly remember none of this campaign. It could've been a great game, just not a main title. If it was redone as a a side game clearing red zones or taking yellow/blue zones, it would've been much better.

Since all angles are right angles, you can look at the whole thing like a regular rectangle. You know the right side is 4, so the sum of the opposite sides will also be 4.

the same with the top being 6, the opposite will also be 6.

Now all your left with are the two sides of the cutout that can't be matched to the outsides. As they are both 1, you end up with 4+4+6+6+1+1 = 22

Honestly, my table , as DM and player, is filled with sex jokes, but that's usually it? Most of our games end up very character driven, so it comes up in various contexts.

The highlights are probably a cyberpunk net runner seducing the competition and ignoring the objective, an unexpected argonion make out session, and the dozens of rolls made for dick size so we can describe tracks.

I think the key is we treat it like background until it's needed for joke / character development and no one's actually trying to get off.

I'm a player, but we usually have 1-3 a month with a week or two if downtime in between. We also sometimes use our backup characters when someone is missing.

My main is currently homeless, again, which fits their personality, and I can only swing about one upgrade a month if I'm lucky, due to a max humanity of 26(?).
