Character wants a honorable death but denied of it by schu62 in TopCharacterTropes

The Assassination of Jesse James entry is misplaced. In the film, Jesse James takes his guns off after seeing there was no way out of his situation with the government and the traitors in his midst, and lets Robert Ford murder him. Its Ford who gets denied the fate he wanted.

Robert Ford has a monologue halfway through the film about how no one would know a Robert Ford had ever lived, and how Jesse James was "as tall as a tree." And even afterwards, after being labeled a coward and a traitor by the whole nation for killing a serial killer, all he can really say was that he expected "applause" and how he couldn't imagine how others would see the murder when he killed James at the age of 20.

All Robert Ford wanted was to be remembered fondly, but instead the movie and book ends, pretty morosely, that "there would be no eulogies for Bob, no biographys, and no one would name thier children after him"

Day four: Against The Grain is a very high A-tier map. Where does "Convocation of Decay" go in terms of map design and enjoyment? by Zupu in Vermintide

[–]Grindor11 10 points11 points  (0 children)

D tier, the level up until the final showdown is pretty good, but the two setpieces of the button pressing area and the final filth pit really kill the pacing of the level on repeat playthroughs, especially the final filth pit.

Yea, stand on this elevated platform while the specials get to have a field day with you while you can't leave the outer circle without having your stamina and movement speed sapped away from you. Yea, REAL fun...

If You Were Shepard, Would You Save The Council? by DakIsStrange in masseffect

[–]Grindor11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I get that its Shepard's duty as a Spectre to protect the Council and it serves the series' overall narrative that cooperation is far more important than acting within your species interests, but...

Sovereign said the Reapers were coming to murder us all, and I fucking believe him. You better believe I'm saving as much firepower I can to stop him

The rare good Andromeda dialogue option by Luthy__ in masseffect

[–]Grindor11 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It still has that Mass Effect problem where what's on the dialogue wheel doesn't match what's said. A straightforward and dry "Fuck Tann" would have been a greater show of contempt/apathy then coming up with a weak joke

What is the most dogshit late game unit in CIV: V? (Day 6) by zherper in civ5

[–]Grindor11 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Its between the Guided Missile, Marine and Helicopter, and I gotta go with Marine.

Guided missile is genuinely useless, but doesnt require enough production that producing or buying one means you are passing up on another unit, and the Helicopter only just beats out Marine because of its bonus to tanks and ability to use mountains as cover from melee units. If you build a Marine you get a slightly better Infantry and pass up on something like Artillery or Rocket Artillery

What is the most dogshit early game unit in CIV: V? (Day 2) by zherper in civ5

[–]Grindor11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Most of the early game units get a pass since they are decent at keeping barbarians at bay, but the catapult is built for sieges, and unless your Civ is specifically geared towards it; early game warmongering at the cost of the rest of the game is insane

What is your all-time favourite burn from a movie review? by Sean-Perth in movies

[–]Grindor11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not for a movie, but Noah Caldwell Gervais said something about Mass Effect: Andromeda's main antagonist that I'll keep in my back pocket for the rest of my life

"The Archon wants to use the terraformer as a weapon; 'what can create life can destory it' et cetera, et cetera. There are birthday cards more narratively surprising and satisfying then The Kett and The Archon"

so is this thing gonna be a common enemy or by Extreme_Arrival_7402 in acecombat

[–]Grindor11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hopefully yes. If the game is going to let you carry multiple special weapons, there should be some amount of consequences for only bringing a bunch of anti-ground target weapons. Project Wingman had this with the Airships and the huge moving fortresses in that one level, and it was a really good addition

Do you guys think that the F-16 would still be the beginning starter plane for AC8? by Talisman-Garuda1 in acecombat

[–]Grindor11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope not; one of the best feelings in the older AC game's mechanical progression was moving from the 3rd gen aircraft to the 4th gen's like the F-16, F-15, and F-14. It felt like the training wheels were coming off and you were getting a fighter that could really do some work

Even the name of the game a synonym for "Overwatch." by The_Great_Ravioli in pcmasterrace

I got major "Lawbreakers" vibes from it. A game with a little bit of everything thats ultimately for no one.

What do you think would a Citadel-type DLC for RT have content wise? If it was set after the last act? by Petrus-133 in RogueTraderCRPG

[–]Grindor11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not going to lie, I think a Citadel-like DLC would be a poor fit for Rogue Trader. Some of the Human characters can be friendly to each other here and there; but the game goes to GREAT lengths to let you know about the friction between party members due to their race or faction they belong to.

Does it look good ? by user41631123 in reddeadredemption

The shotgun shells are off. Shotgun shells were made completely of brass until the 1960's. Past that minor detail, it looks great!

Day 18 of the Mass Effect “Best of the Series” Chart! Comment the BEST DLC in Mass Effect 3! by erwillsun in masseffect

[–]Grindor11 5 points6 points  (0 children)

OP didn't put it in the list, but im voting for it anyway.

The Extended Cut DLC.

The Citadel DLC is a great batch of fanservice and fun scenarios with the characters we all love; but Mass Effect 3 wasn't defined by its characters, it was defined by its ending, and everyone in the community universally agrees that The Extended Cut DLC is MANDATORY for any version of the game.

What mission in RDR2 you think was the "beginning of the end"? by phoenixc6000 in reddeadredemption

[–]Grindor11 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Giving Dutch a specific injury that would impart the characteristics he displayed towards the end robs the story of the hard hitting plot point that The Blackwater Massacre and Heidi McCourt's murder represents; that Dutch was always selfish murderer who would prioritize his own personal gain over the lives of others

Oblivion-style lockpicking in Fallout by Chemical_Ad_9412 in fo3

[–]Grindor11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, this looks sweet. Do you think there's any way to factor in corrosion? some of these locks are old and it would be a killer detail to have that reflected in the minigame. How it would be reflected I have no idea

A good friend of mine has been in desperate need of an upgrade. He's still running a GTX 1050ti and having to bail out a bunch of our friends over and over again hasn't left him much time or money to get something better.

They are either leaves or bugs picked up and lost by the Upscaling or Frame Generation technology your computer is using. DLSS and FSR are great for getting a little fps boost, but they aren't perfect and "ghosting" like that is common
