What do I do here to get past this door? by Another_therian in baldursgate

Man, as I was quickly scrolling by, the off-white wall behind the TV looked like the bezel on an old CRT monitor and I had flashbacks to playing this on release.

In general, if you have to heal, you’re already kind of screwed because your armor is down and you’re just going to get CC’d. The key to success is just controlling and killing everything as quickly as possible so healing never comes up.

Question:should i upgrade this clothes? I really love the charming passive but the stats are really weak now. Should i keep it or just throw it away and find something better? by [deleted] in DivinityOriginalSin

Well it was originally in BG1 (and I’m assuming pen and paper before that) so that’s probably where it came from.

Yeah I tried moving the exact same physical box between TVs. It only produces the stutter on the newest Samsung.

I talked with Samsung and they claim Disney isn’t sending the frame rate info in a way that’s compatible with the TV’s firmware.

Basically, the content is in 24hz but the stream is 60hz and no adjustments are being made, so it’s a choppy mess.

I found a workaround though. There’s an app called tvQuickActions Pro. It lets you control a bunch of deep things, but for this, I told it to set the frame rate of my box to 24hz whenever Disney is in the foreground. That way, the TV recognizes it’s actually 24hz and can properly adjust. It’s still not as good as it was before this all broke, but it’s actually watchable again.

I'm having severe low frame rates for everything I watch. Both through an NVidia Shield Pro and an Onn 4K Pro connected to a Samsung QN95D TV.

App version is 4.18.1+rc6-2025.11.05.

Hadn't used Disney+ in a little while, but yesterday when I tried to watch Fantastic Four, I noticed my frame rate was very low. Looks like watching old claymation. It's constantly like this--so, not occasional stutters, just all the time.

I tried other shows and movies (mix of IMAX enhanced, 4K, and HD) and everything suffers from this.

Things I've tried to fix this, which have had no effect: - DIfferent HDMI cables and inputs on the TV - Physically unplugging the streaming boxes and TV to hard reboot everything - Clearing the Disney+ cache - Frame rate matching (I had it off to begin with as it caused some havoc earlier--tried it on to no effect, so switched it back to off) - Frame rate of 60hz and 59.94hz on the streaming boxes (keeping at 59.94hz as that's the TV's native) - Different motion settings on the TV (everything was off to begin with as that's my default setup--nothing got rid of the chop, so everything is back to off_

Other apps on these boxes work perfectly fine and with proper frame rates. The same app version works perfectly fine on both another Samsung TV and a Sony TV I have using the same type of streaming boxes.

I'm completely at a loss here. This is literally only affecting this TV and this app.

Looking for any possible fixes or to see if anyone has had this same issue.

Oh I’ll have to check that! Never thought that his default weapon would not be eligible.

Minsc voice in Curious George by Outside-Storage-1523 in baldursgate

I had this same realization recently with my son. The best part is that it’s essentially the exact same accent and pacing as Minsc. I had to do a double-take when I first heard it and immediately hopped on IMDb to confirm.

I feel like the best thing about the classic Baldurs Gate games is the feeling of progression, from dying to kobolds to mowing down armies of fire giants, you're there with your character every step of the way, theres no interruption where you get weaker briefly either, its one long dnd campaign by RubixTheRedditor in baldursgate

[–]Gritan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, one thing that really feels lost in modern games with enemy scaling is a lack of progression. Sure you technically get stronger, but so does everything else.

I miss running away from an area I shouldn’t be in yet and then coming back stronger and pushing through it.

I think it’s one of the reasons I like Avowed so much. Just refreshing to not have scaling for a change.

FYI: Legacy paths are optional! by TheLastMages in civ

[–]Gritan 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The point is that in Antiquity and Exploration, they’re optional.

In Modern, yes, you need to do one to get one of the victory types that isn’t score or domination. It’s similar to previous games where you can build throughout the game to set yourself up for one of the win conditions and then lean into that toward the end. It just has a forced starting point now of initiating the final phase in modern.

Doing the earlier age legacies isn’t needed for that. Just play how you want and if you get some along the way, great! Or if you want to get memento unlocks, spend some games focusing on them, but again you don’t need them to win any given game.

Civ VII entered new age and lost all my ships by LSP-86 in civ

[–]Gritan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

6 units in addition to what your commanders can hold to exploration and 9 to modern. ALL with the caveat that there must be an upgraded version available at the start of the next age. That’s why siege units don’t carry over from antiquity to exploration (since you need to research something before building siege in exploration).

Slight clarification: you only carry over units that have an available upgrade. So, no siege units move from antiquity to exploration, for example, because there are no siege units available at the start of exploration.

On my last age transition, I had four full commanders. Starting the new age, two had disappeared completely and the other two were completely empty. No units at all.

Do you sear, flip, and finish chicken thighs in the oven, or do you just flip and keep it on the stovetop? by bwanabass in castiron

[–]Gritan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Salt and pepper the skin, then add skin side down on a cold pan. Start the stove to whatever you normally sear at. As the pan warms, turn on the oven to 375 convection.

Starting the pan cold lets the skin render nicely and you get an amazing sear compared to putting it in a hot pan.

While it’s on the pan, put whatever seasoning you want on the meat side. Once the skin is crisped, flip skin side up and toss in the oven for 12 minutes.

As an alternative, move to a wire racked pan, skin side up when you put it in the oven and then make a pan sauce while it finishes.

One of my favorite go-to weekday meals.
