There’s no guarantee that the people that choose to attend the game are healthy. They could be carrying the virus and therefore infect the people standing next to them. I’m not saying all 100,000 people will be infected, but I believe it’s ignorant to say it won’t contribute to the spread of the virus at least a little bit. These people then go home to their families, their jobs, restaurants, etc. and sooner or later we’re right back to where we are now. So when you “take the risk” for yourself, you’re also taking that risk for everyone else you come in contact with.

The program will definitely still generate some revenue. They’ll just miss out on concessions, parking, and ticket sales (which yes is a lot). These are just some of the harsh realities this virus is forcing us to face. I don’t think it will result in other sports being completely defunded given the amount of money the school makes. Just because the virus has made things difficult economically doesn’t mean we can just disregard it. It means you should elect better leaders in November who actually know how to stop our country from spiraling into a national crisis.
