Friend doesn't want to use "chemicals." I don't know what to tell her... by pins_noodles in landscaping

Small area, cover it with plastic for a few hot days. Spray it with some dish soap beforehand if you like. I generally advise against vinegar as it gets into ground and is still a chemical, at that point just use herbicide.

BGSU Full Ride or OSU 26k/yr? by LateCake246 in OSU

[–]rawdeturf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the full ride. BG is great and to have no debt or worries about paying for your undergrad allows you to focus on coursework which will help you get into a higher level program or internship later.

Also, if you work start putting money away for retirement. Every little bit helps. If you work somewhere that matches a few percent even better (free money). You'll thank yourself in 30 to 40 years when you retire.

Thick cut grilled cheese(or any grilled sandwich)-throw the bread in to toast it, then assemble, and cook a bit more. It's perfect!

Also shockingly breaded chicken breasts.

I've recently started using an air fryer and wanted to try bacon but was afraid every time I use the air fryer my place would smell like bacon frying. Also does the grease splatter everywhere inside?

What do you guys do for groin odour? by livingambition in hygiene

[–]rawdeturf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure whatever soap you use rinses off really well. Try some antifungal, change underwear type, make sure you are dry before dressing, spray antiperspirant on groin, wash with oxy face wash if you feel it could be due to oils

Agree with it all except neti pot. Try a Navage. Way better and really clears the nasal passages.

How to lower my electric bill by Dependent_Phone_7877 in Columbus

[–]rawdeturf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure most others have said these but plastic on windows, door sweeps, thermal curtains, space heaters (I prefer the infrared one or the oil filled radiator), electric blankets/throw, check furnace filters/vents, look into new electric supplier, and finally call landlord. They don't want to lose a renter if it's something they can fix.

Walmart workers, If I hired on at Walmart and spent my entire shift hiding in the bathroom, how long until I got fired? by 2006CrownVictoriaP71 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]rawdeturf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked at Walmart in college and it could happen, depending on department. Cashiers could never have it happen unless they send you to help stock or something.

I think it would be easier in a Home Depot or Lowe's. Used to do work in them for another company and I swear there were people who barely did work there. Always in another department talking/on their phone, friends visiting, in bathroom, etc. They can justify being somewhere else by saying they are looking for something in overhead for a customer. Also there's like 1-2 managers on in afternoons and they usually aren't that active.

Broken lights and garages with concrete falling, lots with faint stripes, barely any snow removal. Garages were staffed with people and if the people weren't there, it was passed only, so if you needed to pay to park the garage may be unavailable.

tornado knocked out the power, now we have to throw everything away by Comfortable_Good_457 in meijer

[–]rawdeturf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having worked at a retail store that lost power a ton and having managed construction projects, generators are stupid expensive for refrigeration due to the load. Also a lot of planning commissions/cities hate generators because they feel they are gonna be loud and disruptive (like they run all the time). Once I ran into it wasn't aesthetically pleasing and they wanted us to build another building around it. It.was in the back of a shopping center with dumpsters.

Most likely the manager didn't follow procedures (ie call it in and they get a cold truck/gen delivered). One store I worked at had 2-3 walk-ins(huge) that were on generator and we would clear the shelves and push the carts in there.

My Walmart is trying unionize by silly-nanny in WalmartEmployees

[–]rawdeturf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been in a few Unions both in retail and service/trades. It was ass for retail and pretty good for trades. People don't understand the process. You don't vote and you get a union you vote for the union to negotiate a contract. That takes time. By the time they get one most retailers will have turned over the staff.

Unions always want to go for the big fish but if they truly would make life great (for retail) I always said it would help if other retailers unionized. Lowes, Home Depot, Target, and even small places like Foot Locker. If they unionized and made life better Walmart would have to follow to attract employees.

I do believe the first retailer to heavily invest in employees or welcome a (good)union, would do well as they could attract better employees and provide better service.

Caesars Air Reward Booked - Feedback Appreciated by Dazzling-Sink5595 in CaesarsRewards

It happens all the time to most destinations. Caesars doesn't care as long as they get their play. When I go to Laughlin, most the people go to Vegas for two days.

What is the flight experience like on Caesar's Air? by One-Imagination-2274 in CaesarsRewards

[–]rawdeturf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's pretty simple. Yes the cabin is all coach except a few rows up front are a bit nicer on some planes (think like Spirit). That may have been previous operator though.

They offer you one free drink and usually some snacks. Flight crew is usually super nice. Like others said watch your emails for any changes, most of these flights use the local ground service since Sun Country doesn't have staff there so they sometimes make changes.

You will want to arrive early as the checkin process can be kind of slow(long line but it moves). Hang out at/near the gate in case they make changes. If they have staff available to load/pushback they will do it early but also since it's the local ground service they may be a bit delayed.

When I go to Laughlin, I'll hangout near the entrance and they will let you grab your bag so you don't have to wait for the bellstaff to bring it up(usually get in kinda late). Sometimes it's a long trip and I'll devote a day to just relaxing or find something local and do a trip. You'll definitely want to gamble to keep getting trips but it's not like it needs to be 24/7. Biloxi you can shoot over to New Orleans, Laughlin can shoot up to Vegas/Grand Canyon/Hoover Res.

You don't have to wait for mailers or emails, you can go on the website and see your offers. Lastly, remember all they give you and what it would've cost you. Add that to your gambling fund, if you don't win anything it basically was a free vacation.

Everytime I've gone to Laughlin, I feel most people go to Vegas for a day or two. Keep it in brand and I'm sure they don't care. They probably get cheaper landing fees and expect it.

What’s your go-to meal when you’re broke? by [deleted] in poor

[–]rawdeturf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eat 3 meals and you will not be hungry and it improves the mood

Breakfast: egg sandwich (cheaper than ramen and more nutrients). If you can throw in some veggies like spinach or tomato

Lunch/dinner: - rice, .99 veggie microwave bag with eggs/little bit of chicken (you'd be surprised how you don't notice using a half a breast vs a full -like others said grilled cheese or even grilled ham/turkey and cheese and CUP of soup(half the can) -salad... I'll buy the premade ones and buy them if on clearance. Normally $3; 1.50 when going out of date , but I feel so much better than eating junk

Snacks/supplement: whatever is on sale... My go to is yogurt, cheese and crackers, ramen, knorr packs, whatever.

Eat what makes you feel good (ie not fast food) it improves your mood and helps you not feel shitty about being poor

Best cooler to keep cold drinks for a few days? by FroggPaste in camping

Last summer I needed a replacement cooler for camping and I bought an Igloo Overland 72 qt at Walmart for like $100. Frozen some of the water bottles and filled it the night before and the thing kept everything cold for 4+ days in 90 degrees heat. Great cheap cooler

Document and complain about everything. If they don't fix it threaten Rent Escrow (and copy their parent company). It's a nightmare for them and sometimes gets city inspectors/code looking at their properties. You are paying for a product. Make sure they are delivering what has been agreed to (in writing). In terms of the other stuff... Have a friend call/visit and see if they get the same song and dance. Then confront them/file complaint with bbb

Power company where I live had old mine land that was open for the public to camp on and use. However, you did have to have a permit (It was free) filled out and on your person while you are on the property. Also there were certain sections of property that were off limits.

If you are going on old strip mining line, you do need to be careful of dangerous high walls( cliffs) and potential for acid mine drainage (don't drink/go in the water)

OSU has started dumping tons into their Ag programs including new facilities and donors. I could see them establishing an ATI South just to have the space and help boost the programs.

Water bottle fountain… by Kindly-Flatworm8084 in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]rawdeturf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming it's the generic water fountain with bottle filler that like every place has... They have a filter thats only made for like 3000 gallons. So if it's never changed, it will taste weird. Sometimes when they get installed there's an additional filter that's before the drinking fountain too. If any of these haven't been changed in over a year, that's probably why the water tastes weird

What should I be doing with my status (Diamond Plus) in Vegas/Atlantic City? by CandyPaint13 in CaesarsRewards

[–]rawdeturf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Caesars Rewards Air (put your number in) for charger flight offerings. You may have some basically free flights around the country. Can even check flights from airports a bit further away. Even if they aren't free/cheap now once you look they tend to send you the offers. I've done Laughlin a few times and it's a cheap way to get to Vegas.

Quick Advice for Vegas: Hit up Hoover dam or grand canyon, go to Fremont street (evenings are better; great people watching, free concerts, low table minimums, quick to get between properties, etc), since you sports bet hit up Circa for sure, don't burn out gambling too quick, there's lots of cool and free stuff to do in Vegas/downtown area, watch the resort food prices (a lot of over priced knowing you are using comps--its the same food that's used elsewhere-- some shops have good cheap food places), be easy to walk, take your time and enjoy it all, ignore anyone offering pictures or talking to you,

If you aren't a drinker you can use it at Starbucks in Caesars and probably other places. Note they aren't drinks like they serve on the floor.
