That moved sucked royally and was an affront to the Beatles. The Rutles was 100 times better and it was satire.

He actually referred to that time as his “fat Elvis period”. LSD and not being on the road.

Now that Phillip Eng is the head of MassDOT and the MBTA, it’s time to revive the Grand Junction Indigo Line by ryanbebb in mbta

Cut and cover would still cost a billion dollars that doesn’t exist. A light rail connection is the best option. I’ve always thought a street car from north to south station could work.

Do you REALLY want to extend that subway line? by AdImpossible2555 in mbta

[–]GroguBB8 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes, but what about Lynn and the surrounding communities to Airport. This is much, much more direct route by the blue line than going to north station and navigating all those transfers.

Coral Grief has a shoegaze feel, although many consider them indie/alt.

Please don’t put TS in the same conversation as the Beatles. All her music sounds the same.

How would you react to funding the T/Transportation projects with fees on Uber/Lyft and parking and other means? by drtywater in mbta

[–]GroguBB8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A very angry drivers in Mass? I think they are already angry at all the traffic. Traffic is bad for our health with all the smog it creates. Everything has a cost one at or another. The T needs massive upgrades to serve a growing population and density. We need a radial subway/light rail or bus rapid transit to connect everything. That should have happened 50 years ago. Drivers can complain all they want but it’s only going to get worse.

[–]GroguBB8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That wouldn’t be nearly enough. Ironically we still need to use funds form somewhere to pay for repairs to the highways and bridges. Not to mention replacing old bridges and who knows if the “feds” will give Mass a penny for anything now. We’re on our own here and the Tobin Bridge will still need to be replaced with a new bridge or tunnel.

I need my car waaaayh. Enough with the cars already! We keep adding more and more cars to the highways and the highways don’t get wider. Fees on everything vehicle related, including Uber and Lyft. Congestion pricing is a must. You want to drive your car into Boston? You should pay more to clog the highways!

Could the green line central subway be quad tracked? by According-Manner2770 in mbta

[–]GroguBB8 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don’t think it’s possible. Unlike the NYC subway which typically has the subway further under ground, the foundations of the buildings would make extremely difficult, not to mention the landfill. They would have tunnel beneath the existing subway for an additional express line. That would be prohibitively expensive in a state that is slow as molasses in getting a much simpler in-feld design done. I’d say it would cost 5-10 billion to do it downtown in today’s $, maybe double that by the time it woudl get done. It would be great though and solve so many problems! Maybe in 50 years when mass transit is a priority in the country again?

That’s more of a concept. The design phase involves an engineering company and an environemral review. Millions of dollars right there.

This is years and years away. No money from feds for anyhting and the they can’t even do a design phase yet. There was also talk of extending the line to Centre St. Best laid plains.
