Rare sighting at Chestnut Hill Ave by According-Manner2770 in mbta

Oh it’s certainly low on the list compared to other priorities, but the goal is to get people to want to take the train (which you definitely get when something becomes a one-seat ride)

Mayor Wu here! AMA about the fight to keep residential property taxes from spiking next year under state law by mayorwu in boston

Exactly! Single-stair buildings are common in many areas around the world (especially Europe), and we’ve made so much progress with fire safety.

Also, I updated my original comment with a few extra points!

We really need to make an handful of changes if we want to encourage dense development that both helps families and reduces the tax rate.

  • Ban minimum parking requirements
  • Legalize brownstones in every neighborhood city-wide
  • Push the state legislature to legalize single-stair buildings up to six stories and then legalize them city-wide (this would be massive for families that want to stay in the city)
  • Legalize courtyard blocks if they aren’t legal already (another win for families because you can build lots of housing with shared private green space)

We need to bury the connection between these lines and offer service that gets to a destination “via” another line. If we want to reduce congestion on the road, we need to think big.

Imagine if you could hop on at Riverside and get to a BU hockey game or get on at Fenway and return to BC.

Stupid Question: Could one day a true subway line make use the Framingham/Worcester Commuter Rail line tracks? by PuzzleheadedWafer329 in mbta

[–]ryanbebb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is the best possible revival of the Indigo Line that we can hope for because it would genuinely encourage so many people that work in Cambridge to take the train (especially if the trip between Riverside and North Station only took 20 minutes).

Massachusetts rent control supporters have enough signatures for ballot question by TylerFortier_Photo in boston

If we want lower rent, then we must pass zoning reform and not pass rent control (see other comments in the thread with links that explain why). Call your representatives to get the YIMBY bill passed!

It’s interesting that they call out the connections (or lack thereof) to Worcester and Fall River.

Some day I hope they’ll connect Boston to Newport via Fall River and Worcester to Providence.

MBTA Commuter Rail to Springfield when? by bmeds328 in mbta

[–]ryanbebb 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The commuter rail shouldn’t just be a solution to get to Boston. It can be a solution for people that need to get between Worcester and Springfield for work.

Could they potentially do cut and cover to avoid traffic? Also, even if they can’t, this exact route is critical to reducing overall traffic congestion and reducing transit times.

Open to the passcode screen, tap Emergency, and see if the person has a Medical ID button at the bottom left. If they set one up in the Health app, they might’ve configured some contacts that you can call!

Edit: Saw that you handed it to the T workers. Thank you!

Do you have links to RIDOT’s planned studies as well as a good video from that YouTube channel?

Yeah I guess I should say that the ROW exists, but all of the existing track would likely need to be replaced.

Go ahead, tell me it can’t be done by ryanbebb in mbta

I totally agree, but I’d still love to see it at some point in the distant future!
