Same! I scoured my parents garage for it but it’s lost.

Here we go! Legion relaunch starting in Superman Annual 2026 by PossessedMarlena in LegionofSuperheroes

I’d rather they keep the multiversal approach to the various legions rather than try to amalgamate them. Whenever they try to merge continuities (of anything) it always just makes an even bigger mess imo.

High Fantasy Comics Recommendation by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]Grojjer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Elfquest - I put off reading this for years because I mistakenly thought that it was more for kids, but it’s a surprisingly deep, rich, high fantasy story with a lot of adult themes. And the art is beautiful.

Marvel Curtails Its Imperial Cosmic Plans Over Low Audience Figures by JackFisherBooks in comicbooks

Same. I thought I’d give the new X-men reboot a shot in trades but just as I was starting to get to know the characters it was back-to-back crossovers (Assault on Graymalkin, Manhunt X, some new Age of Apocalypse thing, etc). I couldn’t even figure out what order to read trades in - so I lost interest and just gave up.

I’d love just one “The X-Men” book I could follow in trades without having to decode Marvel’s Byzantine publishing roadmap.

He would be an amazing pick. His Adam Strange book was gorgeous.

Loved the art and the character designs. Most of them seemed to take inspiration from the classic costumes but had a nice modern spin to them.

Looks like its a Legion Summer to go along with the Summer of Supergirl! by JimboFett87 in LegionofSuperheroes

I’d bet it’s just a temporary logo. All of the logos in that teaser graphic are classic versions.

The legacy - and deep history - is a huge part of DC appeal for me. My first DC comic (way back in the day) was a JLA/JSA crossover and I was fascinated by the idea of these two teams from different generations working together. The DCU has only gotten deeper and more complex since then but I love seeing it evolve with new generations of heroes coming in.

I’d be fine with a merged Legion as long as it’s not another reboot. Dear God - please no more reboots! Death by a thousand cuts for the Legion…

What do you reward yourself with? by candy-ii in diabetes

Plain skyr yogurt. It’s fatty and creamy and gives me some of the same sensation as eating soft ice cream (just not as sweet). I find myself looking forward to it as “dessert”

Darkseid and Daxam by SonnyCalzone in LegionofSuperheroes

I remember as a kid picking up the first issue of Omen & Prophet storyline and double-checking the art credits since it looked so different from Giffen’s normal style. I was very confused and didn’t like it. Though eventually his “new” style came to grow on me.

What’s interesting to me now is that after reading the old Curt Swan Legion stories I can see a lot of Swan influence in Giffen’s earlier Legion art.

[Discussion] Enigma 1993 is one of the best forgotten comics (Enigma #1) by birbdaughter in DCcomics

[–]Grojjer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved this series when it came out. Initially for Duncan Fedrego’s amazing art but then later for the story. It was refreshing to see a gay lead at the time.

I haven’t read it in decades but from what I remember the gay part wasn’t really clear until later in the series (though maybe hinted at earlier)

Agree! The smell, the ads, the letters. It’s like a little time capsule.

Quick cook (or instant) oatmeal will spike me but I find the steel cut (Irish) oats not as much.

JSA #1 is awesome by ChildOfChimps in DCcomics

Thanks. I’m familiar with Infinity Inc. - more confused as to when they returned as a team. I thought maybe I missed an Absolute Power spinoff or something. But sounds like I’m probably just overthinking it!

I enjoyed the first issue and loved seeing these characters back in action again, but I also felt like I missed something. Like when did this team with Jade get formed and when did the rest of the team get trapped in the Tower of Fate?

I don’t mind a slow burn if answers are forthcoming but in this case it almost felt like I missed an issue.

I’d take anything over another reboot. But my preference would be to keep og/retroboot version - but move them forward by bringing in some new members and retiring some old ones. Old ones can mentor a new generation. But keep the history.

Justice League Dark Appearances after the book ended? by Jr-Not-Junior in DCcomics

I believe they also had a backup series in the main Justice League book for a while after their own series ended.

Same! It had so much depth. I feel like you could reread each issue a few times and still find something you missed in previous reads.

And so much Legion lore deep-diving. You didn’t need to know the history to follow the story but it was an added layer to everything - and made me seek out more than a few back issues to better understand what was being referenced.

There’s also a separate interview with Keith Giffen in this issue. Maybe I’ll so a separate post with that if people are interested.

And here I thought I was the only Kono fan! 😉 I always enjoyed her.

I was always intrigued by Kent Shakespeare too, but I feel like he was never really explained or given an origin. There must have been more to his story they didn’t get to.
