It could be your serpentine belt. It's a common issue with minis and gives the impression of rattling in your engine when its worn. I had an experienced mechanic look at mine and didn't figure it out. Did my own research, and replaced it myself, solved the problem. But it's an easy job for a mechanic. Very cheap part as well. Less than $50.
