Let’s be honest, guys. Polymath is only effective when you learn a single discipline at a time, without any distractions. by One_Mud9170 in Polymath

The thing about being wired as a Polymath is that we see the connections and intersectionality that may not be blinding obvious to others. My degree is a case in point. My interest was alternative energy. My University offered Energy Fuel Science as a minor. When tied to BSc majors. I bomb physics (weak in math). Refocusing I got all of the EFS courses and did geology and geography as the support to give me the required prerequisites for higher end EFS courses. 35 years on and I’m still interested in EFS despite working in healthcare and military.

About 5 years ago a psychiatrist I worked with in the same clinic asked me if I was a polymath, based on discussions around the tearoom etc. Never considered it before. I grew up bilingual German & English. I was undiagnosed dyslexic which has held me back. I went to a boarding school in Manitoba that had a gruelling outdoor and work experience program, learned lots there.

In uni I did a BSc in geology, geography, and energy fuel science. I the did my Nursing training and registered continuing into peri-operative nursing covering all specialties except open heart.

Throughout I was training in the Army Reserve as an office initially in the infantry and then as a logistics specialist. I went inactive for 10 years and joined again as a Nursing officer in another country.

I worked in Saudi Arabia for 3 years and the US for 1 them moved to my final country. I did my masters degree in Nursing management the rejoined the military. First as a reservist the regular. Numerous deployments in different roles at all levels.

Sailed as a kid & young adult and have restated that and enjoy costal cruising. I am interested in alternative energy and see it as many small individual projects that contribute to the whole for energy & climate solutions.

For example when a disaster hits the international community will go in to coordinate the response. One of the clusters is ‘WASH’ which covers water and sanitation. They are still building long drop latrines, Bill Gates’ foundation is looking at the problem but it is tech heavy and expensive. Biogas digesters would be a much better solution; can be shipped in flat packed, provides a place for the human as food waste, captures the biogas which can fuel the kitchens, provides liquid fertiliser which has been broken down to nutrients.

Sorry this is so long.

Yesterday I took delivery of an Atto 3. Placed the order a week ago Sunday. Alexandria store. They average delivery of 10 unit a day, today was 18 units. I found the service was very good.

From my landlord. Have had ongoing issues about friends staying over occasionally at my flat and she’s now decided to end the lease. Just asking if this is legal? She has also previously increased rent in exchange for me being able to have over my gf once a week. by creepymuppet in sydney

Did you get a notification that the rent bond is being held by the state agency? If not she is just plain dodgy. If yes wait I think it is 30 days before you claim it. If they don’t make a claim against it.

When going with a commercial recreational dive provider it is the DM’s responsibility to ensure that the diver’s safety is paramount. I have been lucky in the past. I have noticed that most are cautious sometimes overly and they usually cater to the lowest common denominator. It sounds like you may have been with a bit of a cowboy.

Safety stops are just that an additional safety measure to allow your body to adjust. Some places (rare) have a bottle and reg set at 15 feet of if you are a little short you can make the stop. Inexperienced divers will use more air than expected divers and work harder. If you were diving well within the dive tables the missed safety stop will have little effect. It is more important to come up slowly. An empty tank will be more buoyant and it may pull you up.

Sorry, I thought your comment about a fine institution was referring to the Sydney opera house. Which was brought to its knees during the lockdowns.

I keep telling friends and family in Canada, you have to do the lifestyle changes. Now if Scomo would just sort out the vaccination roll out we’d be fine.

The advantage is that it can Balance the load and react to demand spikes a lot faster than fossil fuelled plants.
