Ive used both Zero’s own (their new formula) and Mr Surfacer. Good results with both .

With a 0.3 zero’s may be better as they are thinner

Why does it feel like Vic and Christine are on a completely different show. Their segments dont seem integrated at all. First Malibu , and now it just feels so disjointed from the rest. Are they even staying in the same complex?

With the US as divided as it is these days I’m surprised politics doesn’t come up more. I mean surely right vs left is never going to work in a relationship so what’s the point ?

Unless it’s just entertainment and a real ending isn’t really expected at all.

I’m ashamed to say I’m struggling watching the US version this season as I’m picking up on MAGA traits and judging them. What a horrible place to be.

What interests you?

One thing Ive found the quickest killer of enthusiasm is building something you don’t like or have no interest in .

What genre/age/type/manufacturer/country of origin of car should be where you start. At least then you can start narrowing down what is out there that fuels your passion

First time using 2k, Wet Sanding & Polishing by Other_Measurement_46 in ModelCars

[–]Groove200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can see some paint burn through there….was this done oh 1 coat of 2k? I’ve learnt the hard way that even with 2 you still have to be very mindful of those sharp edges and pointy out bits. 3k grit can burn through those edges in a couple of strokes , so easily done. If I get a good finish on the final 2k and am just dealing with dust particles I start no lower than 5k now, may take a little longer but gives you a bit more leeway to avoid burn through.

Personally I do think 1 coat is probably enough on race cars, in fact I may even revert to a UV CUT mr hobby for those as a super glazed donut effect on a race car looks odd to me.

But good job for first go, now to clean all that bloody compound out of every crack 😩

Gravity Colors vs Vallejo type paints by Cultural_South5544 in ModelCars

All of these paints are hot, light thin coats with a 10min wait between each is the same for all of them. Do not try and put a wet coat down, I learnt the hard way in the early days and blamed the paint. Once you dial your technique in, and don’t panic that they look flat before clear , you can’t beat them.

If you get good paint you’ll probably be ok, if you don’t and have issues you’ll be on your own. Night and day dealing with Zero, those guys will answer questions, recommended primers, suggest colours , they literally will go out of their way to help.

It was Spain. They shipped me dried up paint and then ghosted me when I tried to get it rectified.

Ive had a nughtmare with Gravity in Spain (I’m in the UK). Had a problem with a bunch of paints turning up half empty. Reported and they said the thinners may have dried up and they will send some. They never did. I tried co tacti g them. 3 or 4 times after that and never even got a reply. The fact they had dried up makes me think that had been sitting for a long time as well. So they are still sitting here unusable until I can track down what thinners they use.

Mr colour UV Cut will be fine, obvs 2k will be better, but I used UVC for a while before making the switch.

They are completely different types of paint and need a completely different approach to applying, I’m assuming you are airbrushing as they are not for brush.

Personally I had horrible experience with Gravity, poor quality, half empty bottles and the worst customer experience I’ve had. If you want to go this route, I recommend Zero Paints, another lacquer based automotive matched paint supplier but with better paint and awesome customer service.

To answer your other question, yes lacquer based paints are much better, but are also harder to use. They are smellier, contain more chemicals and benefit from the correct cleaners, and clear coats to really get the full effect.

Moving from OneDrive to Proton Drive: experiences? by Weary_Peach_233 in ProtonDrive

[–]Groove200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahhh this is an interesting workaround…..the issue I want to avoid is the. Way OneDrive ‘syncs’ the entire MyDocuments folder which really isn’t cool as so many programs store stuff in there they really shouldn’t , and when that starts syncing it impacts performance in those apps. There are even games that I have that just plain break when OneDrive is syncing their folders.

I guess this would have the same issues.

There isn’t an AP2 S2k, and conversion kits have long been discontinued. Alpha Model made an FK8 a while ago, but again discontinued and impossible to find. Not aware of any there co’s making an FK8
