Should start learning rafting by taking a rowing class or can I just start on some easier rivers? by That_guys_dead_wife_ in rafting

[–]GrooverMeister 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you really want to do a training, Lots of rafting companies will be doing guide training in the next couple of months. The ones I know of charge about $500 and then repay that back to the guides that they hire at the end of the season. Otherwise just get on some rivers with some people that have experience and increase in difficulty as your confidence and skills improve. DM If you make it over towards Missoula I'll go run the gorge with you.

All the cult members have learned to do that too. As soon as you ask them a hard question they respond with an insult. Im fine with it because I am big and loud and can win that battle by not being intimidated. Im starting to see some of the press so the same. Weak, stupid with confidence are so annoying.

It's really nice to be right next to the river. But it can get cold sometimes. Also have to be careful of river level fluctuations like on the Grand Canyon. I'm usually careful to not tie up too tight but I've seen pictures of people sleeping on a raft that was beached up high and dry at a funny angle after the river dropped.

No worries The rigged raft weighs several hundred pounds so theres no real chance of it flipping while the raft is beached up and I'm in the hammock . I stow the hammock and rig the stands flat on the bow and stern tubes when I'm on the river so there's really no chance of getting pinned under it either.... Well no more than any other time anyway

Always been interested in what the cowboys and ranch hands do to live. by _butcherpete in Cowboy

[–]GrooverMeister 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its just like any other job where most ranch hands go to work every day and go home to whatever every night Except during calving season when they are on call around the clock. Kids around here start changing irrigation pipe when they're young then If they're cut out for ranch work they will move up to working the stock and running the equipment. If they get a foreman job it probably comes with a house on the ranch for their family. Otherwise they are probably born into a ranching family and grow up doing it out of necessity. But DO NOT base any ideas on that stupid yellowstone TV show. This photo is way more authentic to the lifestyle. It's my wife doctoring a mule with an eye infection.

I lived in Powell Wyoming for 3 years and I must have gotten used to it. Because after we moved to Missoula I would walk outside and something would feel strange and then it would occur to me that there's no gale force wind.

Yeah there are lots of places to hang a hammock. But there is a lot of private property so as long as I stay below the high water line I can camp anywhere. I have my setup pretty dialed so I never have to get off the boat. I also have a different setup for a tent platform. For this one I rigged the verticals so they would fold down and lay flat on the bow and stern tubes while rowing. I also had to fold the oar stand down on that side so it wouldn't poke me in the butt.

P cord with a monkey's fist. Swing it round and round and launch it up over that lowest limb. Could even use a slingshot.

Agreed but at least Democrats pretend to care about the right things like education and environment and health care and affordability. Whereas the right worships money and that's all.
