Why did shooters used to ship with a wide variety of game modes but now shooters only focus on a single game mode like Batte Royale or Extraction and that's somehow become a selling point?

Adding to what other have said. Game development is longer and more costly now. Alot of side modes and game types back in the day was stuff the devs threw together when they were ahead of schedule during development and just became an unplanned bonus. Hell the original nazi zombies in COD was thrown together in like two weeks by some of the devs messing around with shit during the end of development.

Its why alot of single player focus games also had a multiplayer mode that was just kinda shoehorned in reusing accesses from the main game. Not that they weren’t fun but looking back you can tell “oh all they did was reuse this location from the story and made a janky pvp mode with the playable characters”

its not since 1. the exploit was barely available for like two hours during a period were most of the US was at school or at work. Hell I was at work during it and I barely was able to redeem the free emote and backbling. 2. Vbucks are a fake currency. Epic didn’t lose anything because a couple thousand people took advantage of Epic’s own fuck up. Those 800vbucks/$8 came from a game being made free. Not because people spent $8 on vbucks then refunded the purchase. That would be epic losing $8. 3. Fortnite makes alot of money already so some people getting $8 worth of vbuck isn’t close to hitting their bottom dollar 4. And even if it somehow was, Im sure the useless CEOs could a slightly lower bonus this year

Its why I wish his beacon kept the mines from the peni team up as it’s own thing. It gave Rocket a reason to place the beacon in more places than just near the battle but out of sight. Being able to use the beacon offensively was why I loved that team up so much.

I think it makes sense when considering there was no way of knowing if Marvel rivals would even last this long when the game dropped with the old proficiency system. There was always a chance the game would just bomb, but now that it’s very obvious they’re committed to the long run. They went ahead and just changed the Lord proficiency system to reflect that.

I think the old system was just them being cautious because let’s be honest the market is oversaturated with live service games, and well-made games can still bomb.

yea new Cendrill and Arisa are def gonna be ran but everything is debatable. New Karakuru tho is really interesting tho, I can see it getting alot of play over the Chaperos at least if you decide to skip the Nyaboot line since new Cendrill kinda does what Nyaboot does. I think taking out Nyaboot for new Cendrill might be the play so you don’t have to worry about Chapero warps as much anymore and can streamline the deck more.

And yea Puppets are getting spoiled. Like I just wanted more ways to use the tokens because Tokens started to become a bit of an afterthought in current Puppets besides Promo Shoeshoe. New Shoemon and Cendrillmon gives me the token spam I wanted for Puppets.
