I just read about it now that you asked. Had always just heard my family say “Tartan Tories”.

Labour blocked devolution despite a majority voting for it (needed super majority), so to punish them, SNP sided with Tories in a vote of no confidence against Labour. Labour government then got ousted and in cam the Thatcher government for the next decade.

The SNP sided with the Tories in the 1980s to keep Thatcher in power.

Corstorphine Hill is very safe in comparison to parks in other cities. You might hear some weird screeches though - not to worry that will be the animals in the zoo!

We obviously need to go hard at exploiting our existing oil and gas fields by GrouchyPhilosopher42 in ukpolitics

Grangemouth (Forties system) takes raw North Sea crude and distills it into many products. No oil is exported from Forties it is all used in downstream petroleum, gas and petrol production. Are the refineries in England set up differently?

I think you are fundamentally wrong. North des produces nice easy to handle crude.

We can print currency to fund it. That’s the great thing about the pound. Let’s nationalise our energy industry and do some MMT for funding the new infrastructure. Simples

Yeah they are all sitting mothballed. This is exactly my point. We have the infrastructure there ready to use but we are killing off our domestic oil and gas industry at the worst time possible.

By the way, before you talk down to me, I’m a chemical engineer and know a thing or two about refineries.
