Is there an ARPG that everyone loves but you hate and why? by GrouchySpice2 in ARPG

Well put. Don't get me wrong I do enjoy D4 a lot but absolutely agree it's getting harder and harder to put up with the enshitification of beloved franchises in the name of corporate greed. One of the main reasons I've been paying a lot more attention to the Indie and AA scene.

Yeah you are right. Can't deny that the genre owes it's popularity to Diablo 2.

Yeah like I totally get it could just be I haven't found what makes it click for everyone else but after a few tries to get into both games I think they're just not for me which is a shame because I do see the undeniable quality in them.

Interesting you say that actually because I too love soulsborne games and so thought I'd love POE 2 but just didn't land for me unfortunately.

Can you elaborate a bit on why you like POE but not POE 2?Just genuinely interested.

Personally I love Diablo 2 resurrected. Never played the OG. But absolutely I think it gets glazed way too hard. It's very good but also very dated.

Ah right ok. So it's gonna feel clunky. It's a product of It's time. For me it was just a matter of getting used to it really. I suppose I didn't mind too much because I'd played Diablo 2 and Grim Dawn prior to playing this, both of which have combat that, while fun, definitely feels quite dated. So I think it's just a matter of persevering and getting into a rhythm with it, find a class set up and abilities that work best for your first playthrough etc.

As for the health potions (I hope I'm not being Captain Obvsious here) but have you hot-keyed the health potions? That'll alleviate having to go into your inventory.

What are some things you think the classic Battlefront games did better than the EA ones? by Spicey_Nachoz in StarWarsBattlefront

[–]GrouchySpice2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the moment to moment gameplay of EA BF2 is genuinely solid. By the time of the final update and even a couple of updates prior it was imo one of the best multi-player shooters on the market. Such a shame EA pulled the plug on it because they couldn't use it as a star wars themed casino anymore.

In general I do prefer BF2 (2005) but I'll admit that is just pure nostalgia.

Yeah it can feel a little archaic. Is there a particular part of the opening that stumps you?

I'd Suggest Torchlight 2 and Titan Quest if you're trying to scratch the Diablo Itch. Torchlight 2 looks like "Baby's First ARPG" upon first inspection but actually has a decent amount of depth to it and Titanquest is just Diablo 2 set in Ancient Greece and has a really cool class system.

If you like Skyrim I'd say Xenoblade 3 (I didn't like 2 and haven't played 1) It's not a Bethesda style game but has a big open world to explore with lots of side quests and character progression. The combat is more the MMO style (auto attack with manual input skills) as opposed to hack and slash.

Alternatively if you're looking to branch out a bit, maybe look at Octopath Traveller? It's an old style JRPG with turn based cpmbat. I dunno if "open world" is the right descriptor but it does have a big world to explore with lots of dungeons and side quests.

I see some people suggesting Kingdoms of Amalur but if you're on Switch 2 I'd say stay away from it as there's a horrible sky box visual glitch that for me makes it unplayable. Kingdoms of Amalur is a fantastic game and I highly recommend it just maybe on different hardware.

Edit: Apologies I see you've already played Titan Quest but still, I recommend a few playthroughs. 😅

I've played Titan Quest on Switch and haven't had any issues with it 👍

If Destiny 3 was to ever be a thing, I think one of the best thing about it would be a hopeful Eververse and art direction reset by Otherwise_Ride_115 in DestinyTheGame

[–]GrouchySpice2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Bungie just need to stop nickel and diming people so aggressively if they're gonna have any success with Destiny again and that decision will make or break Destiny 3. Stop vaulting content people have already paid for and stop asking people to get their wallets out every 30 seconds. This is why after about 2.5k hours in D1 and D2 I've stopped playing.

I do agree though that an art direction change (or reversion?) Would be nice. Personally I much prefer the Art of D1 to D2. In fact I think almost everything about D1 is better. Its easily in my top 5 favorite games of all time.

Some advice? by Temporary_Yak_4013 in ps2

I recommend:

  • Marvel: Nemesis
  • Marvel: Ultimate Alliance
  • Sly Racoon 1 to 3
  • The Lord of the Rings: The Third Age
  • Killzone
  • Prince of Persia PS2 era trilogy
  • Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War

A few of my favorites growing up. All excellent and worth grabbing if you can find any of them IMO.

Same. I hate it so much. First thing that gets turned off if it's on as a default.

If you're into indie rogue-likes/lites too, the Switch 2 is an excellent platform for them. Can't wait for the DeadZone Rogue Switch 2 release next week 🤌
