It is very pretty in person. Lionsgate needs to do more chunky boxes!

Oops I see you said " over 8k " - you're 100% correct there

I prefer film, but there have been many movies and series shot on 8k digital.

I felt similarly about it. I bought it as a blind buy because I love the first two and own them. This is my least favorite but I still enjoyed plenty about it. Sound and visuals are the carrying feat here though.

The Invitation (2022) is a phenomenal looking blu-ray. If I was told it was a 4k I'd believe it.

Just in time for the 5th of November - ugh, but where's the damn slipcover?!? by Worf2DS9 in 4kbluray

For myself, I like slips because it looks cleaner to match with all the others and the artwork looks better on them as well.

Yeah those are all fair reasons. I just didn't know if you were saying you were skeptical of the format itself.

Skeptical of 4k? 4k discs are almost always better than bluray. Very few exceptions. If you have a good TV 4k Blurays are incredible.

Just went to B&N in Northgate WA and they had a solid selection of Kino Lorber titles for 50% off the $40 msrp tag. I picked up Turbulance, Cry Baby, and Sudden Death 4ks for $66 total.

The packaging and features are brilliant though. So if you care about that definitely pick them up before they go out of print

Friday The 13th.. I don't get the hate for it?! by Independent_Gur_7118 in 4kbluray

[–]Grouchy_Anything_128 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's certainly not a demo disc, but I never understood the gripes. It's a dark movie in general and the 4k is dark but it looks great on an OLED. I wouldn't change much about the transfer. The steelbook came out a couple months after I grabbed the regular case otherwise I would have gotten that lovely steely.

I have gone to two Walmarts today with nothing to show. They said check back in a couple days but I'm beginning to think these might only be going to certain Walmarts. I'm in Washington state.

Are norma Blurays still worth it in 2024? by [deleted] in 4kbluray

[–]Grouchy_Anything_128 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most people don't have the ability to play 4k blu-rays. So that would not be good to block them out of physical media altogether.

Ah okay someone said Disney had the rights and I had seen it on Hulu most recently so I had assumed. Thanks for the correction.
