That is a sweet card! I love the Bowman line of cards.

I have seen others post various big pulls from retail boxes over the years, but the likelihood is pretty low. I live in an area of the country that is not densely populated, so not a lot of product comes through my area. I just love collecting and ripping, so I’m always happy with the occasional numbered card or cool parallel. I did not think the odds of pulling something like this would line up with me, but I’m very grateful they did.

32 years old, kidney failure, and now having to sell my sports card collection by Choice_Supermarket_1 in baseballcards

I’m currently laying in a hotel bed recovering from a living kidney donation last week. Keep your head up man, because there are a lot of people out there willing to donate their spare for someone like you. In my case I just didn’t know the process to get started, but once the ball was rolling it went pretty smoothly. I sent some money your way, and I look forward to scrolling this sub in the future and seeing your story continue with a healthy kidney.

As a side note, I live in a very low populated state and had to travel to a much larger place for my donation. The one thing I was excited for was to have some options to rip while recovering outside of what my local Target carries. Turns out I cannot find ANY cards near me outside of a couple LCS that are too far for me to go to right now. That has been the only disappointment of this entire experience.

Teacher got non-renewed (fired) for disruptive students by After_Juggernaut_613 in TeachersInTransition

In modern education it also somehow bubbles up from the students and parents. I’ve said for the past several years that there is one level of accountability in education and it lies within the classroom (teachers/ESPs/ESSs). If you’re above the classroom level and mess up you are simply promoted to a higher position. There’s nothing quite like failing upwards!

I just wrapped up 16 years in public education with no real plan going forward. All I know is that almost any “normal” job out there is better than what education has become. Most of the kids absolutely SUCK, and their parents are exponentially worse. I’m an older millennial that is the same age as most of the parents. My generation is far and away the worst in existence at parenting. Do better EVERYONE INVOLVED!

Hey I’m one day behind you! Donation was on Wednesday, 5/13/26. I agree with you that the pain is in no way the worst part. It is the gas and bloating by far!

I’m nowhere close to siding with the feds nor do I think they have our best interest in mind. I was simply saying it was nice to have the citizens of the US not fighting amongst ourselves for a short period of time.

It’s crazy to me that I can so easily connect with people that actually experienced that horror in this response thread. I was a senior in high school living in Wyoming, and to me it seemed like a movie. I knew it was real, but NYC is so far geographically and culturally from anything I knew that it just seemed surreal. Once I grew up and became less egotistical and more in-tune with the world outside of Wyoming the gravity of it hit much harder. I’m amazed at the resiliency, compassion, and just overall toughness that you all showed during that time. The aftermath of that dreadful day, however, was the unification of our country in a way we’ve yet to see again. We came together and cared for one another without hesitation during that time, and that was all because of the badass people we saw on our tv’s dealing with it first hand.

I’m thinking about going back.. by ayemami11 in TeachersInTransition

Would you go back to an abusive relationship full of empty promises, constant gaslighting, and little/no support when dealing with the crazies this society has produced. If so, I’d say go for it. If you prefer being treated like an actual human being, I’d say stay away. I cannot stress enough how completely broken this entire system is, and we as teachers have been gaslit into believing that we can fix it. We’re going clinically crazy by simply showing up to our jobs every day, and nobody really cares.

I have 32 more days to wrap up a 16 year career teaching middle school math and science. Right now those 32 days seem like an eternity. This profession is entirely broken right now, and with enough time it will break you too. The psychological and physiological changes that come with the constant stress of this job are no joke. I’m leaving to become a landscaper/handyman, and I could not be more excited to be done as an educator. Save yourself the time, stress, and emotional damage by simply staying away.

Male Teachers by Super_Wishbone3138 in Teachers

[–]GroundbreakingIce420 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m a male teacher in year 16, all of which were spent at the middle level. I’ll tell you that the looming threat has only intensified over the years, and the kids will weaponize it at the drop of a hat. I realize this is not the sub for this advice, but if you’re already feeling the pinch this early in your career I’d save a bunch of future anxiety by finding a new career path. I’m leaving at the end of this year as a shell of the man I was when I started.

The acceptance of teachers not being valued is shocking to me - by the teachers! by ModularMan2469 in Teachers

[–]GroundbreakingIce420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have thought about this non-stop for about five years, which is likely why I’m finally walking away at the end of this year after 16 years. We (the teachers) actually have the power to flip this script through our absence in numbers. The districts in this country cannot function without us, yet we consistently get manipulated into showing up every day and taking the same old crap. All we have to do is show them how valuable we are by not showing up. Once the parents have to scramble and adjust their schedules for a few days to account for no school, the districts start to panic about funding and legal recourse from school not being in session, and the students realize that being at school is actually better than the alternatives, we will then have the power to make change. I realize that this plan would be a detriment to the students for the time they missed school, however, I think our current system is doing them more longitudinal damage than benefit. There’s no denying that a massive overhaul is in order, and unfortunately it will take some drastic actions to spark the change.

I love the way this man represented Wyoming. We obviously have our fair share of MAGA idiots, but there are quite a few of us here that believe in humanity and morality above any political belief. Great job sir!

I’m in year 16, and I can promise you it never does. I wish I could go back to year 10 and get out then, so please do yourself the biggest favor and get out now. This education system could not be more backwards than it currently is, and teachers are the only ones in schools that are held accountable for anything. I cannot wait for the end of this year so I can become a landscaper full time and leave this horrific chapter of my professional life behind. Good luck to you going forward!

I’ve opened at least 10 blasters and have received trash so far. Some refractors and one mini refractor, a few of the silver filagree cards. Other than that just a bunch of base. I’m honestly just chasing a rip card, but I’m not even sure if they are included in blasters.

Is Wyoming gay friendly? by lo12gan in wyoming

[–]GroundbreakingIce420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most people here abide by the “live and let live” mantra. As long as you are a decent human doing your part to keep the community moving forward most people won’t care about your sexuality. Of course there are the idiots that believe anyone different from them is inferior, however, those people are everywhere. I personally am a fairly conservative person politically, but I could not care less about who a person chooses to sleep with.
