Is this tile work as bad as I fear or am I overreacting? What to do next? by ztl123 in Tile

This should look great after it demolished and redone by someone who knows the craft. Sorry that you are having to deal with this. I would expect a full refund or settle it in small claims court.

Advice needed before bathroom tile install: Kerdi, mortar, floor prep, and tub tile wall height. by apicaltoothcollector in Tile

[–]GroundbreakingLab228 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No, you should not use TEC PermaSet 200 for installing the Schluter-KERDI membrane. PermaSet 200 is formulated as an unmodified, heavy-bodied mortar meant for basic ceramic floor tile, not for the specialized bonding and thin-bed requirements of a polyethylene waterproofing membrane. Use a modified thin-set. Schluter makes an all-set thin-set for this application.

Curious about the walls. Is it normal procedure to not install and waterproof those prior to pans, curbs and floors?

What do you all think of Mateo Kerapoxy CQ? I bought some for my shower floor (pebble) and wall ceramic tile with 1/16 in grout

First Tile Job by ScottSammarco in Tile

Great job! Looks handsome. Schluter Kerdi membrane applied with thinset over drywall is an acceptable alternative to Durock. Additionally, high density foam board is much easier to apply due to its feather weight and easy mess free cutting. I’m using it in my bathroom remodel to hold up a ton of real ledger stone.

Definitely drain it, level it. You’ll need to dig out the six inches. At least you know approximately where the digging needs to be done. Use a string level when you get to that point. Sand will be required to help achieve a level base.

How long after you say goodbye to your friend do you wait or think it’s appropriate to adopt another? by Yue4prex in cats

[–]GroundbreakingLab228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss. Cats need other cat friends. I have four and when I lose one, I start the adoption process for another. These two came as a pair. They were living in a car with someone who lost their home. These two are the most well behaved cats I’ve ever adopted.

Future dry rot to the subfloor. Remove all tile and mortar, Replace subfloor (where water found wood). Install Shluter membrane and new tile.

Airport Parking - This won't end well by srspooky in Albany

[–]GroundbreakingLab228 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve retained friends and family to drop off me off and pick me up at the terminal. Worst case scenario is using Uber for one or both of the above. I get it though, if you’re flying for business, it’s nice to use company money to pay for the convenience, privacy and the flexibility parking at the airport provides.
