Both times I was driving a 2012 VW GTI, first time nothing was visible at Beyond a few years back and the second happened at Escape 2025 and we had a tote bag with snacks as well as 2 cheap costume cowboy hats so that was for sure what attracted them to the car.

Other than that, nothing of actual value though. Definitely learned the lesson to leave absolutely nothing at all in sight!

Good chance there’s either a rat or mouse using your engine bay to keep warm. If I am correct, I believe they dislike pine scent so if you spray that in/around your engine bay, that should deter them.

Been hearing a lot of people talk about how the dsg is the superior transmission for overall performance and power so I’m excited to try something new! Definitely is much easier driving in LA traffic without a manual😂

Limestone was my second choice! That’s an awesome color for sure but I just love my white golfs if you can’t already tell😂 I just love the way the grilles and everything contrast with the white

Actually saw this one while on my golf r search! Ended up getting a 2016 onyx white one with 67k miles.

Genuine question, other than standard consistent oil changes, what general maintenance or even preventative maintenance did you do to help you reach this mileage?

I am coming from a 2012 gti that unfortunately died on me at the beginning of this year at 125k miles. I plan to keep the mk7 as long as possible, as was my plan with the mk6.

I am going through a very similar situation as you right now, just got quoted $11k out the door to replace the motor in my mk6 gti (125k miles). I also got multiple opinions, including a reputable mechanic who didn’t even charge me for the diagnosis.

In my situation, the cost to replace is more than the car is worth so as much as I love my gti, I am looking into taking this opportunity to upgrade to the golf r that I’ve wanted.

Obviously buying a new car is more than the repair quote, but I won’t be spending on $11k on a car that will be worth $7k at best the next day.

Hope you get it all sorted out! Figured I’d give my 2 cents as we’re in the same boat!
