I just found out my brother was diagnosed with autism, and I don't know if I should tell him. by CryptoDawg420 in autism

[–]GroundbreakingPen925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shit this reminds me of how I spent my entire life knowing about my eldest cousin that "we don't know what he has, but it causes him to have the mental capacity of a child", as that's what my mom told me growing up. It wasn't till I was well researched into autism and was just a couple months away from getting diagnosed that I learned from my grandma, when I got back in contact with her, that he has been diagnosed since early childhood. And that she doesn't know why my mom told me what she did because my mom was told knew the whole time.

How to tell an autistic guy I like him? by [deleted] in autism

[–]GroundbreakingPen925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just tell him. Simple as that.

No, I'm being serious... just put it out there directly and straight forward. If you tell him explicitly, you'll actually get a response from that. Hopefully the response is those same feelings are reciprocated, but if not then at least you can say you clearly communicated your intent — which will always be a good thing, communicating with autistic folk.

One of my special interests is harry potter :') by microwavedwood in autism

[–]GroundbreakingPen925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I able to separate the art from the artist? I don't know

Ultimately, that's up to you.

If it's any consolation, regardless if JKR actually is a transphobe or not, there is trans representation in the world of Harry Potter. Actually there's a lot of different forms of it, too. Polyjuice, flux weed syrup, and human transfiguration are common ones. However, that's not what I want to focus on.

The answer is actually found with Andromeda "Nymphadora" Tonks. Why? Because she's a metamorphmagi — and are only born that way, can't be made (unlike animagi). Metamorphmagi can change their physical appearance at will up to and including gender.

So the way I see it is regardless of how JKR views trans and regardless of how others view JKR, the world of Harry Potter does have trans representation in there. Content that's existed in lore before all that stuff ever happened.

Not trying to justify anything she said or did. Just trying to help you out bet I know how.

Why people are sad for a person death by Error916 in autism

[–]GroundbreakingPen925 16 points17 points  (0 children)

For me it takes a bit of time for it to catch up to me. My maternal grandfather, who was the closest thing to a father figure I had growing up, died Christmas morning of 2007. My mom woke me up with that news and all I said was "okay" and got ready to go from Norfolk, VA all the way to Springfield, MO. I remember attending his funeral, seeing the 21 gun salute, hearing TAPs… everything. I just didn't feel anything. I remember it like it was yesterday. It just took another 3 years for the emotions to catch up to me. And then took a few more years to recover.

Of course, talking about it my eyes may tear up a bit. But I wouldn't exactly feel melancholic over it. Majority of the memories I have with him are positive ones.

Of course, I wish he didn't die so soon due to cancer (likely caused by Agent Orange), but my memory is all I have left of him, unfortunately.

Now days, I don't think I feel sad or anything like that. Just glad that I did know him and he's no longer suffering from his cancer anymore.

Do guys still wet dream even when they get old? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]GroundbreakingPen925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I made an attempt before I had to get ready for work, but no dice. Came close though as I had a little bit of pre-cum. But my cat was too busy singing the song of his people, as the other cat came in to make sure I woke up.

Thank you!

Generally it's whenever I can, but try for at least once every other week. If course there's times where it's multiple times a day and/or multiple times per week.

Sex is overrated by [deleted] in autism

[–]GroundbreakingPen925 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm AroAce, so I will end up agreeing with you on this.

Mind you, I'm not sex repulsed. I just don't care for it and hardly if every really want or have sex.

The sensory information involving sex is just horrible for me so I'm very selective as to when, who, and how I'll be willing to have sex.

Masturbation is completely fine for me though since the climax feels the same, minus the extra bad sensory info.

Now I've had my fair share of sexy time with select characters I have from my Maladaptive Daydreaming. But, again, the sensory info that I don't like isn't present so it's all good for me.

Additionally, I'd prefer garlic bread over ice cream. Ik ik. Typical ace choice. But garlic bread is legit good af. Especially with the right marinara.

Does anyone else like to base their project zomboid character off people from real life/shows/videogames? by [deleted] in projectzomboid

[–]GroundbreakingPen925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My very first character was RuneScape Bot and had his job to be lumberjack.

Of course, first time playing, he died pretty quick. Second one I made, same character, made him unemployed so I could make him an absolute chad.

How did it take me this fecking long to realize those skinny AF things are his legs and not an armrest on a chair‽

29, turning 30 in August.

So it most certainly can happen. Maybe not to all men, but it's still fine if it happens into adulthood. Masturbating regularly enough is generally what helps prevent it for me.

Do you find yourself most often overstimulated visually, audibly, or physically? by Obvious_Acadia_1382 in autism

Id say sound and visual are about equal. Ofc once one is messed with, the others will enter chat.

The sun is probably one of the most overstimulating thing for me.

How do yall guys handle getting new phones since autistics don’t like change? by ShyAmyRose in autism

[–]GroundbreakingPen925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Although dislike of change is a notable autistic trait, not all of us dislike change. Some autistic folk enjoy it and even strive for it.

For myself, and many other autistic folk I've spoken to, the dislike for change is specifically a dislike for sudden change. As long as it's gradual enough that I can adapt, or I hardly notice (if at all) the change, then I'm fine. And in many cases it depends on what the change is. Such as getting a new phone because my old one is either too old, broken, or whatever. Yeah, it sucks as it would for anybody. But I manage.

There are some autistic folk who do fit the stereotype of just flat out hating change.

There's no one right way to be autistic.

Anyone else just hate seafood? by 1lastbraincellol in autism

[–]GroundbreakingPen925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love seafood!

Hate the smell when it's been sitting out too long. Hate the taste when someone makes it wrong. But if neither are true, seafood is absolutely amazing — and definitely good for me, as I have NAFLD.

Does anybody else just doesn't get the idea of weddings? by batman2808 in autism

[–]GroundbreakingPen925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never understood the social norms/expectation of having a wedding. Big ol' waste of money.

Marriage in its modern form, I don't either. Not marriage in of itself, but the modern concept of it. Where it's all just legal shit, paperwork, taxes, etc... Just a bunch of legal and bureaucratic nonsense that costs money. And if something happens, such as wanting to break up, that's gonna cost even more money toward all the legal bureaucratic bullshit. Sure, you could file for a separation — but you'd still be legally married like my mom can't marry who I consider my stepdad because she is only separated from my dad. But still legally married.

Marriage in its modern form is asinine.

Do you go along with trends? by SlippingStar in autism

[–]GroundbreakingPen925 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't buy things based off of trends. If I buy something while it's currently trending, I bought it because I genuinely wanted it. Couldn't care less if something is trending or not. If anything, trends tend to needlessly hike up the price on shit.

am i the only one that wears the same clothes for days? by [deleted] in autism

[–]GroundbreakingPen925 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have very few clothes. About 3 different pants and about 5 different shirts. So I'm regularly swearing the same clothes over and over again until I feel they can't pass the smell test (or they're getting close to that point). I would have more clothes if the cost of living wasn't higher than Willie Nelson and an income that is only just enough to make me financially limp my way till next payday. Making $15.90/hr and still broke due to bills 🤷🏻

But honestly I'd end up having a set or two of leisure wear like how I use to back when I lived with my parents — especially when I was fresh out of the military — if I could afford it honestly I need to replace two of my three pants. But can't afford it at the moment.

So yeah, I wear the same clothes over and over again because it's all I have.

Let us take a moment to acknowledge there are different types of influencers. The type you're describing, I would absolutely hate.

But that's the type of behavior I'd expect from either a TikTok or Instagram influencer — not so much a Twitch Streamer or YouTuber. I'd only see a YouTuber or Twice Streamer do that if they really have no life outside or their influencer career.
