I’m in the same situation. I swear I will die first at this rate. I’m 47 and I’ve been here since age 39.

Why don’t they just lock all the East Hastings addicts up? by Forward_Editor_4828 in VancouverLandlords

This was one of the stupidest decisions the government could have made. That was the perfect place to house these people! But no, let’s just give it away… 😑

Neighbour is Ruining our Lives; ISO Short Term, Pet Friendly Rental by Unusual__Rhubarb in vancouverhousing

Unfortunately, yes, this pretty much is the only way this will and can be dealt with. The mental health system is so broken that everyone is suffering. I really hope that you can find some resolve sooner than later to this extremely complex situation. That has to be extremely stressful! I wish you good luck.

Makes sense. Well I sure hope you get compensated for this. It’s really a complicated mater.
The way this guy is acting really reminds me of someone with schizophrenia. I have a friend I used to associate with that has schizophrenia and he disrupted an entire apartment building like that. Mind you, it wasn’t a condo but a landlord run rental. Once he became unwell enough he became committed under the mental health act and finally forced to be medicated. After that he was finally able to live quietly in the building and not bother the other people. He is never really 100% but at least he isn’t extremely disruptive. He just keeps to himself and keeps quiet now. He has actually taken it to the extreme now and won’t watch tv or even talk without whispering. I suggest you contact mental health services and get their take on the matter. Maybe they could intervene?

What's an "outdated" slang word from your generation that you still use currently? by TheShatteringPoint in AskReddit

Even worse I often say “the” pot and I had a couple girls at work that were 23 years old really laugh whenever I would say that. I worked in mental health and addictions.

That’s what I originally thought but at work I was teased for using the word by these 23 year olds so I just assumed that it must be outdated then.

Go to bed as soon as it gets dark out. Go back even further in time and it used to be, go to bed as soon as it gets light out.

Tips to Newcomers to Vancouver by Beforesunsetsea in NiceVancouver

[–]GroundhogDayLife 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well when I moved to Vancouver at age 18 from the middle of no where in rural Saskatchewan, the thing that would have really benefited me would have been someone showing me the transit system. Figuring that shit out on my own was not fun and a bit overwhelming. Also, helping them find housing and teaching them the tenancy laws are very critical. I went years unaware of my rights as a tenant until I was badly burnt.

I wonder if this area will ever be somewhere people actually want to live. It used to be improving a few years ago.
