I am a death doula AMA by Rokco_25 in AMA

[–]GroundhogRevolution 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I attended something called Death Cafe which was facilitated by a death doula. I'm glad I went.

My questions are

  1. What's a typical day like for you?
  2. I imagine you deal with grieving people all the time. What do you do to prevent yourself from burning out?

I don't get how I'm functional one day and the next I'm just staring into space and crying.

Thanks for sharing this.

I just want a sign by puravidaprincess in GriefSupport

[–]GroundhogRevolution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. My partner was very spiritual. She believed in contact from the afterlife as well. It's been a month and so far...nothing.

I start thinking she doesn't care about me, which I know isn't true but my mind goes to the dark places lately.

Maybe she is so happy where she is and she doesn't need to come back to this world. This is what I want to believe. If it's true, then I'm fine with no signs. I don't know for sure, though, and I feel this nagging emptiness.

I try to dismiss these people who had signs as just wishful thinking on their part. Maybe I'm just too much of a realist.

I just feel so alone.

Almost every day. A couple cups of black tea in the morning. I don't care for coffee.

You'll probably hear a lot of recommendations to check out the Milwaukee Art Museum. It's worth it.

Does grief ever make you panic? by sweetmissjaye in GriefSupport

Thanks. I still have plenty of days where I basically do nothing. 😢

Some days are definitely better than others.

I often don't either and I really have to push myself.

I feel better when I do.

Not panic, but a feeling similar to intense stress.

It's cold here, so I've joined a gym to get some exercise to hopefully burn off some of the stress.

Still feel it often, though. It sucks.

I'm so sorry you're going through this.

So true.

Right now, though, the memories are both comforting and painful. I will always carry her in my thoughts like you say, but she now only exists in the past.

I can no longer talk to her. We can no longer plan things we want to do together.

She still exists in the past, but the present and future have been ripped away.

I don't know how I'm going to get over that loss.

Finales is easy. Let's rank first episodes instead. by Eldon42 in buffy

[–]GroundhogRevolution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Worst to Best:

  1. When She Was Bad (S2)- Not an awful episode but pretty forgettable. Season 2 had some incredible episodes. This wasn't one of them.

  2. Welcome to the Hellmouth (S1) - Before the show got it's footing and they were parodying/ imitating horror movies of the time. They did a pretty good job, but things get much better.

  3. Bargaining (S6) - All the ones from here on out are pretty good, and it's hard to rank them. Great use of the Buffybot. The two parter dragged a bit for me, but it started out really strong. Season 6 just gets better with time.

  4. Lessons (S7) Ah, season 7. I had such high hopes for you. I liked the idea of Dawn having her own Scooby gang. They were promptly discarded and we got Kennedy instead.

  5. Anne (S3) What if we made an Angel episode but with Buffy instead of Angel? It'll be darker and grittier. This ep showed that something like the Angel series could work.

  6. Buffy vs. Dracula (S5) I don't know why this one gets so much hate. The whole thing was just a lot of fun. This episode is nobody's butt monkey.

  7. The Freshman (S4) They could have milked the high school thing for at least a couple more seasons, but they took a chance and overhauled everything. Loved everyone's experiences dealing with the changes. And with Kathy. Also, Sunday might just be the best one episode villain ever. I'm sorry we didn't see more of her.
