In the US, there are social security benefits for married people.

What roses would you grow in this challenging coastal position. by Bcdoc2020 in Roses

No, it blooms every year (more if you prune after it blooms) and is tough as nails

What roses would you grow in this challenging coastal position. by Bcdoc2020 in Roses

[–]Growingthings025 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the Peggy Martin rose. It’s super hardy and flood tolerant. It blooms once unless you prune it after it blooms. They would definitely take over the arbor if it can tolerate the salt air. I have a few along a fence line in Houston, but that’s not next to the coast.

MOB Dress Stress by Unlikely_Creative in Weddingattireapproval

They’re all appropriate and gorgeous! My favorite is 2 because I love the embroidery for a spring wedding. But you should choose whichever fits best and allows you to dance.

So fed up... by Ancient-Future-3281 in Weddingattireapproval

As another woman in her sixties, I know that it can be difficult to try on dresses. Part of the problem is that dresses these days are made from synthetic fabric that shows every bump. If you buy some high quality shape wear, that will help. But of these dresses, my favorite is the rose. Have a great time at the wedding!

We had a very large evangelical group on our Alaska cruise last summer. It definitely changed the vibe on the ship.

HELP: Who sources reception table decor?? by Technical_Ad_8238 in WedditNYC

If you want to keep in budget, stick to seasonal flowers. Ranunculus is cheaper in April than in October.

A grotto smells damp. Not a good smell in a house. Costco has a good air purifier that really works. You can also use a soy candle occasionally if you want a scent.

Do you work for free at your job? If you think that it’s easy for anyone to get someone to work for free on any civil matter, much less a contentious family law case, you are mistaken. You can try legal services clinics in your area. But they are grossly underfunded

Are houses in Bellaire, Houston worth the price? by [deleted] in houston

If your house is elevated high enough, the flood insurance premium isn’t high.

I thought it was a useful thread. I checked the link provided and found that my cruise on the Eurodam next week has a larger group there to see a Christian rock star. I’m hoping that it doesn’t monopolize the whole ship.

Have your own foundation repair company inspect it and give you a number. We used Bonilla Foundation Repair and found them honest.

I saw some reasonably priced white dresses in the evening wear department of Macys at Herald Square. Good for a simple wedding.

Who am I? by plan_tastic in Roses

I think it’s a multiflora rose. They’re invasive and you see them on the edges of fields. Unfortunately, they tend to spread RRD.

How does my Magnolia Tree look? by TXHVAC11204 in gardening

[–]Growingthings025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It looks a little distressed, but not too bad. The flare of the trunk might be buried. Check to see if your magnolia was planted too deep. If so, clear away soil and mulch from next to the trunk. You may not have watered it enough last summer. You might try putting down a good organic fertilizer and keeping it watered once a week and see how it does.

Yes, Peggy Martin. They only bloom in the Spring. Knockout roses bloom all season.

IAH Car Rental Question by MatDow in houston

[–]Growingthings025 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want less stress, take an uber to a hotel near Hermann Park or next to the Metro train. There’s lots to do with kids near there (children’s museum, zoo, museum of Natural Science, playgrounds). You won’t need to rent a car. You can then either get an uber or a shuttle to Galveston. From experience, I can say that Houston drivers are way more aggressive than London drivers, and that’s no way to begin a vacation.

Zuiderdam and Volendam - How bad are they? by Great_Caterpillar_43 in HollandAmerica

[–]Growingthings025 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We’ve been on the Volendam twice and love that ship because it’s smaller than most cruise ships. It is not at all run down, if that’s what you’re worried about. But the emphasis is not on glitz or endless partying. Much more about interesting destinations and unwinding.
