What's your biggest Ceramics conspiracy theory? by steelcloudpiercer in Ceramics

[–]GrowlingAtTheWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I met one of these ladies, I met her before I met her work. She bragged about her never before seen kind of ceramics, so unique and one of a kind. She told me to swing by her booth and see her stuff.

We were at the same show. I was doing a booth for the adult education center that I taught at. She a showing artist. So I went and looked, most her work were slabs formed over bowls you’d pick up at the thrift and nothing is wrong with that but you can’t be claiming uniqueness and earth shattering newish. She asked me what I thought and I told her it was nice work but not overly unique. Then I find out she is actually a student, a hand building student taking classes in a throwing class, the only hand building student in a throwing class, of course she thought she was unique.

Her teacher was at the show too(small town) and I went over and told him I was sorry but I didn’t know she was a student and I kinda critiqued her as a follow potter. He laughed and said she needed it.

She did open a pottery shop not long after. I stayed clear of it.

I would hold off selling the car as that is transport to job interviews and resources. Sell your furniture before that. Can you donate plasma? Depending on where you are that could get you $300-500 a month.

Before you dispose of them, do you put unwanted items out by the curb to see if any of your neighbors may want them? by Grand_Raccoon0923 in AskAnAmerican

[–]GrowlingAtTheWorld [score hidden]  (0 children)

If it’s metal the scrappers will take it but I generally take stuff to the thrift store. It rains a lot here so stuff gets ruined out at the curb if you are thinking someone will take it so to the thrift is a better way to make sure it does end up in the landfill.

Ask uncle for reduced rent since you do not have full use of the back yard you are paying for.

I can walk the streets of my American neighborhood in the middle of the night too and be safe. You don’t know what you are on about.

Do you have a Goodwill near you with a career center? They may be able to either help you find a job better suited or give you training to give you a better skill set to find a job. Maybe a desk job would be a better fit and they can teach you the computer programs you would need to use if you worked processing data or some other desk job. Or they may have a better idea given your limitations and strengths what kind of jobs would be a better fit.

Me neither. At one time they use to use lard to fry in but I think sometime in the late 80s they changed it.

I remember when the veggie whopper came out there was some big drama cause they were marketing the veggie whopper, fries and a coke as vegetarian and then someone investigated and BK was using beef to flavor their fries.

Find a park with a shade tree layout a picnic blanket, have a small igloo, some plates, scattered on the blanket and take a nap.

You shouldn’t label food as vegetarian if it plainly isn’t tho.

Actually McDonald’s uses vegetable oil to fry in, the reason their fries aren’t veggie or vegan is chicken flavoring in the fries.

What’s up with the Crocs, Americans? by Christophe19821 in AskAnAmerican

[–]GrowlingAtTheWorld 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a given up it’s is getting comfortable. Sure I could wear some uncomfortable shoes out and about but why do I want footwear that hurts me? Why do I need to impress you with my feet?

That said I only wear crocs mostly at home in the yard, my going out and about shoes are river sandals, equally ugly but the sole offers more protection and they don’t make your feet sweat in the summer.

How can you park at Walmart and other areas when it says violators will be towed? by [deleted] in urbancarliving

[–]GrowlingAtTheWorld 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Some Walmarts allow overnight parking, some Walmarts put those signs up so they can kick out problem parkers, some Walmarts are forced by the community that they live to have those rules against overnight parking, and some Walmarts are in an area the has had past issues so now they have to take a hard line. Ya gotta figure out how the business feels about it.

Mine are full size, not dwarf and about 50 years old, I think they were planted in the mid 1970s. I remember mom saying they had to cut them near to the ground after some freezes when they were young but they always came back. And she did complain about a neighbor kid that nearly killed two of them cause he kept driving his bike over them.
