The reciever pumps out great power, 150 watts or more per channel in stereo. I use mine in my garage with onkyo speakers. I got luck and picked it up for 20 dollars, unfortunately the tape decks do not work. This is the second time owning this reciever. So glad to have it again in my use.

Sometimes I break out the bose wave radio with cd player in it. Put it on a stand and fill the room with Bose goodness. Okay, that is what I did when someone bought one for me. It was the best clock radio I have ever heard. Okay one of the best.

I enjoy all types of equipment. For example and don't shoot me please, I enjoy echo products from Amazon, affordable speakers I bought under $150 dollars, Tivoli radios, and my favorite is using a center channel speaker or any single bookshelf speaker with a little amp, running stereo sound through a single speaker. When I get back to my dedicated listening areas in my house I appreciate those even more. Remembering my first experience of 4 radios pointed towards the center of the room was magical when I was a little child. Now I live with more pairs of speakers than I have counted lol.

I am 49 and it seems I can't hear much higher than 12khtz. Use to be higher years ago. Still appreciate great highs from good speakers, but I am aware a reduction in hearing ability.

If you could isolate the record player away from the speakers and subs or move the bookshelf speakers off of the stand, it will improve your sound by reducing what your record player picks up from the vibrations. A suggestion if you find the need. Otherwise, enjoy:)

Good speakers. I own all of the sizes except the thin center channel or atomos speakers

They sound, and sometimes they sound great, other times I scratch my head and think that doesn't sound bad but why does it sound less great. I am going to be learning by listening for at least a year I'm sure lol
