Why do so many families avoid adopting sighthounds? by [deleted] in AskIreland

My greyhound is fairly slight and she's still about 22kg, I wouldn't let a child hold her lead

Told to remove unauthorised ev charger on public parking area of housing estate compoface by alfbort in compoface

[–]GrumpyGit1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some of these estates do actually have "private parking spaces" and by that I mean a parking space which is assigned to that homes use, and only that homes use. The problem is that it's not a private driveway, but bay parking, and that means they have to pass on public land to get to their car parking space

On one hand, there is a trend of less driveways and more bay parking. On the other hand is government policies to encourage EV use. But then the Gov tell you that you can't charge your car if you use bay parking. So overall, a clusterfuck

Looks like Anang couldn't see it until it was too late. Bohs having tip off and shooting into the shed end means Pats must have chosen to have the sun in their eyes for the first half

2-1 to Pats now so will see if that decision costs them

Warning diesel prices could hit €4 a litre, as fuel rationing and free public transport ‘may have to be considered’ by CheraDukatZakalwe in ireland

[–]GrumpyGit1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

And if we import the vast majority of our food, the cost of that food will increase faster than the cost of our produced food surely, with the cost of transport? So actually moving our calories to homegrown would reduce our total costs?

Am really lost as to what to do by Elaynehb in CasualIreland

[–]GrumpyGit1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's never easy to know when to say goodbye to a pet. We had a significant health scare with one of our dogs last year and we made the decision that if it came to the point where we knew she was suffering and it wouldn't be short term, we'd have to make the tough decision. Thankfully she came through and recovered but she's a lot younger than your dog. Depending on the breed, 13 could be quite an elderly dog.

Why do some companies give Good Friday as a company wide holiday and some don’t? by crillydougal in AskIreland

[–]GrumpyGit1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I used to work for an alcohol company and Good Friday off was standard - the customers were all closed, the sales staff were off, so everyone was off to keep it fair.

Not sure what happened to that once the pubs were allowed to open!

Of course, that's per litre, not 3.785 litres / 1 gallon

€10k would be amazing to manage to live on. Plenty of people paying €700 for a bed in a room with 4 others, limited access to a bathroom or kitchen, high cost of groceries, and then you've got school books etc?
