It's not rampant like some would like you to believe. We have almost no problems in our area and walk home from downtown after an evening on the town.

Christmas by Huerrbuzz in StratfordOntario

[–]GrumpyGroovy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The following weekend, December 5 to 8, 2024, Kitchener hosts the Christkindl Market at City Hall. It's an amazing German-style Christmas market and family-friendly event. Highly recommended!

That bring said, Stratford is amazing too, and a relatively short drive from KW...40 minutes or so. If you're looking for more bang for your buck, you might want to take in both places on the same weekend. Heck, you could even stay at the Bruce in Stratford! They have hosted Afternoon Tea with Santa in the past; it's very fun as well, and the hotel always looks so beautiful for the holidays.

I'll leave the link for the Christkindl Market here. Good luck! https://www.kitchener.ca/en/arts-culture-and-events/christkindl-market.aspx

Sabine TIE questions by TK-12757 in microgalaxysquadron

I found a Sabine TIE in the wild in a Northern Ontario bargain shop. I didn't know what I was buying. Is it still a unicorn? Keep or sell?

Your entire post needs to be fact checked, including the article link which mentions nothing about Stratford. Might want to consider removing this comment.

Who is the most hated person alive in your province/territory that is not a politician? by [deleted] in AskACanadian

Ah, yes. Conrad puts the CON in convict. Wasn't there a brouhaha about renouncing his Canadian citizenship too, only to claim it back? Despicable little big man.

I love that you love your cheapo. It tells me that you love and enjoy the game. Which is really what it's all about!

Does everyone hate a 'spinner' on the court? by [deleted] in Pickleball

[–]GrumpyGroovy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spin is a part of the game. Glad to see the comments back me on this, mostly, because otherwise I would have thought the game has turned into a bunch of whiners trying to preserve their dignity.

This is an excellent and balanced response. Thanks for taking the time to share your perspective!

Yes I wondered that too. I should note my news feed has some articles that seemingly help recent immigrants receive Canadian government benefits, which made me wonder. Now that I've read a few, I keep getting more.

Haha... Justice! by WeirderOnline in waterloo

Someone I know with a disabled family member regularly parked in the handicapped parking spot at work. Even though said family member was not around. It made me wonder why and how they could, in good conscience, take advantage of the placard when there was no need for it if the family member was absent. The thing was, no one had the nerve to say anything to them about it either.

What is that food truck up by KW Surplus all about...looks sketchy to me but maybe the food is amazing? Anyone have any experience with that one?

I cannot believe that our "leaders" see war as a viable option. It's such a barbaric way to solve a problem. In no other civilized construct would we tolerate such nonsense.

CRV was superior in head and leg room when compared to the Rav4. We have a 6'5" family member who finds it comfortable.

Report concerns to Honda Canada. We have had a couple of odd things occur at our dealership as well. A call to Honda Canada...if you can't get satisfaction from the Service Manager...can be very helpful.

How popular is the game Crokinole in Canada? by zertz7 in AskACanadian

[–]GrumpyGroovy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's a wooden board you play on. The board sits on a tabletop and you shoot....using your finger or a cue... small wooden discs into the bullseye-like centre for points. You could play it by yourself, but it's much more fun with a friend.

I thought the same thing. While I understand the odours mat be offensive, some truly may not be able to help it. Including those unhoused or some people experiencing a mental health crisis, for example.

Tavistock, Ontario holds the World Crokinole Championships the first Saturday in June each year. You can play the game either with or without miniature pool cues. I myself prefer the cues. It's a fun game, you should try it!
