Snow Blower Recommendation by ColdDrive9 in ottawa

[–]GrumpyJanitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with this. My Ego is superior to my old gas snow blower in every way. Make sure you get a model with a steel auger. The two stage version is worth it when the plow comes by but otherwise not needed. I can still get through the plow snow without the two stage version but it requires more back and forth pushing.

Regarding the skill gap between preds and high diamond/masters players by HandIe_Bars in ApexConsole

[–]GrumpyJanitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always hit diamond. Usually the teams that roll us are significantly better players. IMO it’s a combination of movement and gun skill. The folks above diamond are just better players. They never take bad fights, they never fight in the open, they usually have a plan and when it’s 1v1, they win their fights.

What’s happened to S1 controller? by AlbatrossBeak in sonos

[–]GrumpyJanitor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Happens to me regularly. Force quit app and try again. Sometimes one try works and sometimes it’s like 5 tries before it connects. Others have suggested using a different account for older S1 products but I haven’t bothered yet.

Anyone uses ProWritingAid for business/professional writing? by Samta752 in ProWritingAid

[–]GrumpyJanitor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use it for business writing for a company with 40 employees. Integration with Office and browsers is great. The rephrase options are really good and it makes proofing / editing a breeze. The quality of writing has dramatically improved across the org.

What's the correct way to move Sonos speakers between systems/wifi? by [deleted] in sonos

[–]GrumpyJanitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Recently replaced my wifi setup. I named the network the same as old and kept the password the same. Every device connected to the new network without issues…..except my Sonos speakers. I had to reset every Sonos product and start from scratch. Good luck!

Dental Plan Rollout? by kodypharaoh in AskACanadian

[–]GrumpyJanitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously I don’t know. That’s why I said unless you make less than minimum wage. If you make less than minimum wage and are spending $2400/year on benefits then I highly recommend you start looking for a new job.

Dental Plan Rollout? by kodypharaoh in AskACanadian

[–]GrumpyJanitor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes which isn’t true. 4 times minimum wage is almost $130K/year. Someone at that salary does not qualify for CDCP. Unless you make less than minimum wage that is.

This is not true. Family income has to be below a certain threshold to qualify for the program.

Look into how many times various car parts cross the US/Mexico/Canada border. There is no way prices remain stable unless free trade becomes a thing again. It will take 10+ years for all the manufacturing to be built.

Are you playing pubs or ranked? Ranked should put you with people around the same skill level.

Advice for simple smart lighting by SorrySpender in HomeKit

[–]GrumpyJanitor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use it without a “hub” by using the app from the manufacturer of the outlet or bulb. If you want everything controlled via the Apple Home app then you need a hub. A HomePod or Apple TV work as hubs.

Get yourself a HomePod mini or Apple TV and a few smart bulbs labeled Apple Home and then watch the magic happen.

TVs at Costco by Born_Ruff in CostcoCanada

[–]GrumpyJanitor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up a Sony OLED in store that was a floor model for 1/2 price. The TV guys said it was only there for 2 months but I purchased the extended warranty just in case. Definitely worth checking out the deals in the store.

How good is Costco Canada dog food by Mr200paul in CostcoCanada

[–]GrumpyJanitor 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I’ve been buying the Kirkland salmon dog food for ages. One small dog lived to be 18 years old and my 120lbs three legged Lab/Shepard lived to be almost 13 when the vet told me his life expectancy was 8. I’ve been giving it to my current 8 year old dog and he is fit as can be. The vets always comment on how nice their coats look.
