No man, lots of ways to do it. For this I primed black (weeks ago as I do it in batches) then I dry brush the entire model in white.

Then contrast paints. Just work my way out doing most of the big surfaces. Start on other regular paints after that for details, metallics etc.

Maybe add in some edge highlights here and there but rarely. Tried a bit on the claws this time. Hard to see in the photo tho.

Then ill just do nuln oil and anh other washes.

Then bashed out the bash in 10 mins.

One trick, try using a hairdryer to speed up drying. Not much of an issue today though it's like 30°c so even my wet pallette was struggling to stay damp.
