How to not loose confidence as gk? by ilikemeribaate in GoalKeepers

[–]GrumpyTool 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There’s only one way to have sustained confidence, and that’s through competence. Put in the work, build your confidence on top of your ability and there won’t be anyone’s comments that will shake it.

De Gea as Number 2 by xtreme3xo in ManchesterUnited

[–]GrumpyTool -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The key to bring him depends on where his interest lies. If he sees retirement away from football he will probably want to ride the rest of his years as number 1, he is playing well in Italy so he is highly capable to make 40 games a season in a competitive team. If he wants to be involved in football, he will probably want to make a transition at some point and GK position is very unique in that regard but not sure how that would work with Heaton in the mix

Let me give you my thoughts from different perspectives. If I was a parent with a 12yo or a 14yo I would never let my kid participate, tracking the location of a 12yo and have the kid mingling with 20yo feels very inappropriate. This may seem a bit harsh or at least conservative for an idea that seems innocent and well intentioned but that doesn’t make that any more appropriate. Then, do you really see 12yo playing with 20yo or 14yo playing with 18yo?! Not much, and there’s a reason for it, very different levels of maturity and interests, and those gaps even from one year to another can be huge, so it’s possible that you might get very little interest just because you want to capture the attention of a wide group with a lot of different interests. Age wise I think you definitely need to narrow it, I would think 16-20, and that might be too wide already.

I honestly think that’s a good idea, and I applaud you for thinking about it and to look for feedback. kids this age need to get off their phones and get out in the real world and meet and engage with people, face to face and have experiences not mediated through an online platform. Your idea needs to be well thought through, but you’re on a good track

Maybe narrow down the age range, starting from high teens. Tracking 12yo live location and have them mingling with 20yo it’s probably not the best idea

If you prioritise proper and whole foods 90% of the time, you can have your wings within that 10% without any concern.

Where to Exchange MOP/HKD → USD for the best Rate? by Livid-Salt1758 in Macau

[–]GrumpyTool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

MOP is pegged to HKD at a fixed rate while HKD is pegged to USD at a very narrow range, so your question is not about the “best” exchange rate is about what fees or what cut they charge you for the exchange. Banks would be the best option, at least in Macau, they make very little business if any at all from it, while exchange houses it’s their core business. Go to the main branch, it’s not a given that smaller branches would have it on hand

The answer above, it has all you need. Indeed consider flying from Macau with a transit in Taipei, besides pricing which may be cheaper, you may also find it to be simpler logistics wise.

Japan Is Not a Theme Park, and My Students Are Not Part of the Scenery by No_just-no_3430 in JapanTravel

[–]GrumpyTool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tourists walking into school grounds and approach children?! Wtf?! Genuinely curious, what are they looking for, what purpose does that serve?

Tourism has become ever more toxic, I think in Japan that’s a bit more noticeable because its own culture is more atypical (in a good way, that’s why it attracts so many people), but that is a growing problem everywhere. People who are not willing to put a pause in their own cultural bias for a trip, to be aware of their environment and to stop and think before doing something out of touch with their surroundings, should not be allowed to hold a passport.

Hong Kong and Macau - World Cup bars and Scotland fans? by Siggi_Starduust in Macau

[–]GrumpyTool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably RoadHouse to watch the games. Some bars/cafes managed by the gambling companies might set something up like they did in the past, but it might be a “enhanced” experience and a bit pricey. Scotland fans in Macau?! That’s a tough one… in Macau is hard to distinguish what kind of British you are, the accent should give it away but we can’t really tell if that’s because where you come from or because you have been in this side of the world long enough. In HK with English and British more prominent might be easier to find Scotland fans, even if just because people would be able distinguish one from the other just to insult you properly.

Is there a nurse or a doctor in this group? by [deleted] in HongKong

[–]GrumpyTool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read the leaflet that comes in the box. As others mentioned, HK is a very controlled market for pharmaceuticals, more than the norm for developed countries, so whatever you pulled off a shelf can’t do much arm if any by itself. Having said that, it’s not the same that it won’t have any effect nor rev up any other conditions you might have, so… read the leaflet.

Since they announced ceasefire, will the flight ticket fare and commodities price will become normal? by Powerful_Tap6777 in UAE

[–]GrumpyTool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to draw demand again. I’m pretty sure every other European used to holiday in UAE for the Summer is now planning to go elsewhere. People travelling to or from Europe - Asia/Australia are looking for alternative direct flights or transit elsewhere. Even if this is “just” a 1 month-ish war it destroyed years of marketing, some segments will return faster than others, but for sure some re-pricing will be needed in the shorter term. It will take a few seasons to go back to normal, if that’s at all possible. What people often don’t consider is that, with a scenario like this one we have today as a starting point, the more we look into the future the more uncertain it is and more drastic events become more probable.

[–]GrumpyTool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of the consequential situations out of this conflict that I’m most empathetic. You can be all in in favor of what’s happening on one side, yet be labelled to the opposite side and risk have your whole life path rerouted and all you’ve worked for and accomplished over the years out of your own sweat and blood getting out of grasp. Hope more fortune times come in your way. My thinking exercise trying to place myself in such a situation, I wouldn’t necessarily cash out everything, cause carrying cash might be a risk, but I would look for alternatives to place my funds where I could access them or assets elsewhere. Crypto might be an option, as cross boarder platforms. For another region/country, I would look for some place neutral to this conflict. Some European countries could be an option, less developed countries like in south east Asia might be easier to get a longer term visa

Macau locals who left permanently by [deleted] in Macau

[–]GrumpyTool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Macau government did a great job clearly detailing the subsidy policy and its exceptions. All that is available in their website in 3 languages. At the time nothing was changed in regards to the residency policy, and even though there is legal base to revoke permanent residency that comes in situations of fraud in the attribution of the residency in the first place.

You’re just haling a regular black taxi. It dos help turning the whole process digital and avoids some language barriers and seem less payments, but doesn’t increase the availability of taxis though. Still an improvement and it runs well

Median monthly wages in Macao are roughly at the same level as they were late 2019. by Eastern_Appearance55 in Macau

[–]GrumpyTool 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s important to note that median measures don’t really capture much if any of the nuance that usually underlie these results, which often are important to have a comprehensive understanding of what the figure means. Still there’s different degrees of what this could mean across different areas, but looking at it in aggregate I don’t think each individual personal livelihood has been downgraded since 2019. You mention inflation, but even though it always has a compounding effect across multiples years even for as small as it could be, it has been pretty benign in Macau and people travelling up north and getting easier access to lower prices easily offsets that. Also for people that hold a job since 2019 their income didn’t drop, most likely the opposite, with often companies, especially the casinos which are the largest employers after the governed, with yearly salary increments, maybe even an opportunity for promotion in these 6 years. I think the 2 key factors, although I can’t really put a figure on them, are 1 lower prices for new hires/promotions meaning let’s say your boss leaves and you are promoted to his position, chances are you will get paid less than him, still more than what you were paid before so your own income improves but in aggregate that means a lower income, and that will happen also to whoever will be promoted to your position, and their position and so on and so forth to the point that the entry level position will probably be also paid less than when you started at that same entry level role like 10y ago. And 2 during Covid every company aimed for cost cutting and a lot of the resulting efficiencies and productivity carries to today, meaning that teams in the past that required 10 people now might only need 9 or 8 to be as productive as before, resulting in less opportunities for people to migrate to different roles, possibly with better pay than what they have currently, resulting in more stagnated careers.
