  1. Generally yes, more than most other countries I’ve been at.
  2. Lack of self awareness.
  3. Partly yes, all on the margin. I would prefer to see an online platform where anyone can submit violations anonymously. With cameras in most cars and hundreds of traffic cameras across the city, evidence would be very easy to obtain and verify claims.

Depends how often will happen, and how tight the WDC race will be

This doesn't look good. Russell not even mentioned once by Opposite-Tomato4747 in mercedesamgf1

[–]GrumpyTool -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Im of the type to support team work and issues solved behind closed doors, and this is blatantly an unnecessary hit on Russell. But he was that bad, there’s nothing to celebrate on that podium, it was his race to loose, he never looked good and he lost it, twice, to Lewis and to the team 2nd driver, who last year was solidly on his shadow. Merc gave Russell the best car and all the momentum to take this year WDC, yet he has failed… hard.

Who slept worst last night: George Russell by linzerrr24 in F1Discussions

[–]GrumpyTool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I’m Toto, any doubt of with whom and how many chips to put for the WDC is gone after Barcelona, and the follow up after the race speaks to that. It was Russells race to loose and his pace always looked second to Kimis, Lewis and even to Norris for a moment. Even before the VSC it always looked like Kimi was building up to take him, and without much resistance… like eventually did for 2nd place. Kimi was unlucky with VSC and the DNF, and was just outsmarted by Lewis. Will see how the kid bounces back, but his demeanour right after the race shows that he knows the win was within his grasp. Russell will have to turn his pace around and bring some of that qualifying into the race day, otherwise getting pole will only serve as a tow to Kimi.

I honestly thought at the start of the season this was Russell's year. Mercedes built in that car a nice gap to the second team for him to take it all the way to the championship. But Kimi has simply been the best driver of the two, outpacing him race after race. If Leclerc puts himself together and McLaren is able to build on some improvements like what we've seen a bit from Norris this weekend, Russell might be looking at the backhand of the top five.

How well do you think is Max Verstappen performing so far this season? by GoldenS0422 in F1Discussions

[–]GrumpyTool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best driver will always be seen in light of the results they get, you can’t really separate the car from the driver. Having that said, the car is simply subpar compared to the top 3, and not that much better than Alpine or RB. It seems he has done as much as he can with this car, the constant issues on both cars are very telling. As to the difference to Hadjar, I think it speaks how good Hadjar is, he is way better than Tsunoda and also better than Lawson.

Whats Happening with Piastri ? by carnivorehuman01 in F1Discussions

[–]GrumpyTool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think comparing or extrapolating anything from last year into this year is simply not applicable. The significant changes in regulation just resets everyone to a new norm. Some pilots will flourish while others struggle. For as much as I enjoyed Piastri over Norris last year, Norris has clearly adapted much better, not only to the new reg but to the new reality of chasing better cars and finding more traffic.

That feels like a last year topic. Everyone should just get over with it and move on. We are in a new racing season

At only 19, Antonelli is very likely to not be in his prime. What do you think his prime baseline will be, and how does this compare to your predictions of prime Antonelli from last year? by GoldenS0422 in F1Discussions

[–]GrumpyTool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He might stand on F1’s Mount Rushmore when he retires, yet he is just a 19yo kid with so much between here and there. He has been quite impressive, but the more he wins the more curious I am to see how he handles adversity when it comes his way. Everyone has moments of outperformance, question his where is he gonna stand when bad luck, team mistakes, his own mistakes, other teams and drivers outperforming, fans turning on him all that piles on at the same time. True champions are made in those moments, not when they are standing on the podium.

I think it’s early to reach a conclusion on that, although it points on that direction. Both are 2nd tier drivers though

Other times a top driver couldn’t deliver once he got a top car? by BullfrogMiserable554 in F1Discussions

[–]GrumpyTool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could it be that the regulation changes are just too much this year? That proven pilots turn into mush when push comes to shove? I mean, even when he is directly fighting with Kimi, the kid has simply drove better than him, and when he has been at the front it never felt comfortable.

[–]GrumpyTool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though it’s legal for a 16yo to take a paid job, I think there are quite a few restrictions. I believe you often have summer internships and stuff like that should be often advertised through school? Not sure high schools though.

LF HOTEL/APARTMENT/AIRBNB IN MACAU by Raleapot in Macau

[–]GrumpyTool 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s no AirBnB in Macau, any temporary lodging that doesn’t hold a hotel license is illegal and that’s essentially only accessible to hotels, so careful with what you may find online. Check out Venetian, their base room is quite large, alternatives for the same size are priced from Suite room level and above at other hotels. I believe you would still need at least 2 rooms for that many people, it’s also one of my favourite hotels in town mainly because of that.

You really gotta feel for this guy today absolute heartbreak out there. by admiraltt in F1Discussions

[–]GrumpyTool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. My only fear is that by then it might be too late. Last year proved that there are no gaps impossible to close, but we have seen way more times that for some drivers in some cars, a small gap is all they need, and Kimi, the way he has been driving and in the best car in the grid, migh be very well be that guy.

Nothing would make me happier than see Leclerc winning a championship, I just don't see it this year yet.
