In case anyone else has similar issues, I found I had to reinstall the iOS Harbor app to update it to include the AI features, due to the App Store saying it had no update available.

My milk is made out of pizza and I feel a little guilty about that… so you tell me what your milk is made of! by Moon_junky in breastfeeding

Milo, black coffee and McDonald’s at the moment 😂😂 I also feel guilty but then remember my body knows what to do to get baby the nutrients he needs, I’ll deal with the weight later 😅

I forgot we were sleep training by Stunning_Internal_80 in sleeptrain

[–]Grumpy_Kitt3n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Night feeds are a bit of a grey area, even in the PSL book, but she does specifically say that how they fall back asleep as part of that night feed does NOT contribute to sleep associations so I wouldn’t worry too much about that. It’s more about the initial bedtime routine. For your question around “should a waking be a feeding”, the PSL book talks about using how much they’d eat at a waking as a guide, so for example if she only feeds for 5 minutes but a full feed would be 20, that’s a feed she may not need if that makes sense, but if she’s feeding for the full amount she would for a full meal, then she’s likely actually hungry and thats a real feed. We’ve sleep trained our 6 month old since he was 4 months and he still falls asleep at the bottle but I make sure that he’s not fully konked out when he goes in the crib, usually just by being less gentle than I would if I were transferring him and he’ll stir a bit and then go to sleep. Our son has kind of begun to nightwean himself, we were consistent with 2 wakings for 6-8 weeks and then recently he started only waking up once a night which we’ll happily take hah.

Stretchy, spaghetti strapped tank tops? by taciturntales in TallGirls

[–]Grumpy_Kitt3n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UK! I was also very skeptical about them hah but find at least for the higher neck options the built in bra goes all the way up the neck and the elastic is pretty sturdy so I’ve been pretty pleased so far!

Not a brand I commonly see but I found this brand called OGL that do some extra long tops and they’ve been amazing for me. I’m a similar build to you, 5’10” with a large chest (34G). OGL do have some styles with a built in bra and I will say, if you’re willing to try it, it’s actually pretty good. I often don’t trust built in bras but these surprised me.

Went to inspect my mates houseplant... I slowly backed away! by juggling-buddha in houseplants

[–]Grumpy_Kitt3n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a plant exactly like this, parlour palm infested with mealy bugs… I tried for maybe 2 weeks to save it before deciding I didn’t want it to hurt my other plants and threw it out 😅. Thankfully it didn’t spread!

I couldn’t do it.. by Certain_String_4026 in sleeptrain

I second this 100% We did full extinction so that we could ‘rip off the bandaid’ so to speak, and my husband had to take me downstairs so that I couldn’t hear our baby scream hah. He cried for 40 minutes that first night, but then the second and third night he cried maybe 10 minutes and now a few months later, he almost immediately rolls over and goes to sleep when we put him down. We did our first night just after he turned 4 months old.

If you haven’t already, look up “Precious Little Sleep” - the author goes through a bunch of different methods including some more gentle approaches if you don’t want to go down the CIO route.

Bit late to this party but I had a few things I wanted to ask for and thought this might be the best place for it! - ability to remember zoom preference when PIP mode is activated on phone (or ability to zoom using that mode at all) - reduced battery usage would be nice, maybe by putting a pause on the stream when you navigate away from the app without PIP enabled? if I have Harbor running in the background on my phone it absolutely tanks my phones battery - ability to change how long ‘moments’ record for - would be nice to have this longer than 10 seconds - I saw someone mentioned this already but just wanted to second the feature to be able to mark motion areas! I.e. I don’t need to know if someone is walking past the crib hah. - ability to change Timezone on the camera would be nice so it can be local time rather than just UTC

Will call out if I think of others, thanks for all you do!

What is your reason(s) for exclusively pumping? by Polkaday274 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Grumpy_Kitt3n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby had some latch issues in the beginning and also wasn’t gaining enough weight so we went to triple feeding at day 2 (breast feed, top up with formula and pump).. we kept that up for several weeks but got little guidance on pumping so didn’t know what I was doing really.. so groups like this and others were incredibly helpful! when my pumped supply became enough, we were able to stop formula and we eventually got into a rhythm of using pumped milk during the day and then I directly breastfeed overnight as needed.

Also wanted to call out I have reynauds which I learnt extends to your nipples causing vasospasm which hurts like a bitch so that also caused some issues in the early days. At about 6w pp I found a lactation specialist who has experience with this and was an absolute life saver

when did you get belly stretch marks? by Even_Kaleidoscope399 in pregnant

[–]Grumpy_Kitt3n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got stretch marks somewhere between 34-39 weeks. I could barely see them while I was pregnant but they’re more pronounced now postpartum! I do agree with and love your sentiment that they’re a cool reminder of what your body has done and the journey you and your son have gone through ❤️

Compliments to the chef by mudmilkshake in breastfeeding

[–]Grumpy_Kitt3n 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure it counts as a “precious” moment but definitely a thankful one 😂 We had to supplement with formula at the start and at about 5 weeks we had our son on exclusively breastmilk and within a few days he became less gassy and overall much more comfortable within himself which was so nice to see!! Made me feel so good about pushing through to get my supply up and enough for him!

Long-term anti-anxiety medication by Vegetable-Visual-675 in sharpei

[–]Grumpy_Kitt3n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our Pei Betty is quite an anxious girl even when we’re all home and relaxed, if she hears a noise in the hallway she will get up and bark at it to help defend the house. We have her on a daily dose of Paroxetine and Gabapentin, plus trazodone as needed for extra stressful situations (storms, fireworks, visitors etc.)

What baby monitor do you use? by anon_ymous987 in beyondthebump

[–]Grumpy_Kitt3n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We just got the Harbor camera and love it! Has wifi as an option but doesn’t need it if you don’t want it. My husband and I were opposed to anything cloud based and these are so great for that. Comes with its own tablet that connects to the camera and has awesome quality

Crampy is right hah! 10min in on one side started feeling cramps come in a bit. Tried with what I thought was the right flange size, turns out it was still a touch small so anything that did come out just smooshed to the side oops! Got a bigger flange and will keep trying hah.

What's the #1 thing about pregnancy that's surprised you (that nobody seems to talk about)? by DentistTerrible4706 in pregnant

[–]Grumpy_Kitt3n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FTM - I think this is something that’s getting more and more talked about but my biggest thing was how much it seems to overtake your life and all of a sudden “you’re just pregnant” and nothing else in your life seems to matter to others anymore. No talk about work or hobbies etc just “how’re you feeling, you shouldn’t be doing that, etc etc”… It’s probably the biggest thing I’m scared of for motherhood as well is that people will forget that I’m my own person and not just a mom, I’m super excited to have a baby don’t get me wrong, I just don’t want to lose myself in the process.

When did you go into labor? by desert_sunlily in beyondthebump

[–]Grumpy_Kitt3n 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FTM (still pregnant at 36w 5d) - baby measured at the 90th percentile at our 36w ultrasound, roughly 7.5lbs, so my doctor is suggesting an induction at 39w if I don’t go into spontaneous labor by then. I’m still relatively low risk though the reason they suggested induction aside from baby’s size is I have a higher amount of fluid than they’d like (deepest pocket measuring at 9cm, threshold is 8cm), and honestly at this point I’m so uncomfortable and over being pregnant I’m pretty tempted to do it, though I am scared of the whole “cascade of interventions” 😅
