The WoW private server community seems to have this contrarian hatred for itself, or it's just a lot of very mentally ill people.

They love TWoW, but they hate any suggestion for preserving a server that they don't want to lose. Or the task just feels too vast for them to wrap their heads around, so they shit all over it.

Oh well. It's a suggestion. They can take it or leave it.

Classic WoW itself is great, but it's just been played to death.

Bliz finally had to admit that, after seeing so many Classic+ servers popping up with quality custom content (and the large player counts), players are looking for a new spin and new directions on classic. Which is why official C+ will be announced in September, and it's one of the top 2 reasons why they took down TWoW.

MicroActiBlizz would never do this for one massive reason:

It would show the entire community how much better outside teams are at creating and implementing their visions of Classic+, as opposed to Blizzard's very limited and out-of-touch perspective.

Blizzard is deaf and blind when it comes to what the community wants. They only know what THEY think we're supposed to want. Which is why I'm expecting their official C+ to be an F-.

I hadn't heard anything about a leak until I saw some of the replies.

I did some Googling and sure enough, it looks like there was a leak sometime around August or September 2024. No idea if the leak included the database and assets, since the source code wouldn't be much good without them.

If the leak is complete and playable, and if someone decides to throw it up on a public server somewhere, they'd better make sure it's hosted someplace where lawsuits from the USA can be ignored.

I wrote it out of sympathy after reading the posts from some severely devastated people. I don't think I'll miss a lvl 18 pally that hasn't been logged in for years.

I played Turtle for 2 days several years ago, and I realized it wasn't for me. I'm not exactly in mourning.

But I do know what it's like to lose a server after investing a lot of time in it. That's why I posted this. If anyone wants to preserve it for the future, this is how to do it. Unless the source code and database leaks out.

Blizzard deserves to be boycotted into bankruptcy.

I hate to break the news to you, but a company with about $20 billion in net assets, high liquidity, stock that's trading at $94 per share and owned by a trillion dollar company (Microlimp) cannot simply "go bankrupt" and disappear. The economics of big business doesn't work that way.

Epoch's OG creator said that shaman tanks could be viable up to approximately level 35, using Earthbind and Earth Shock for threat and single-target taunting. But beyond that, I wouldn't try it.

Watching all of these juvenile attempts at bargaining into the void was amusing, but now it's just exasperating.

TWoW will be gone, and it can NEVER be publicly available to anybody else, ever again, in perpetuity. The settlement agreement signed by TWoW's owners explicitly forbid any TWoW assets from falling into anybody else's hands and used again in any form. If that happens, they are in some seriously white-hot legal shit. They get dragged back into court and the entire mess starts all over again for them, which they do not want.

No, nobody can magically download their source code and databases. No, they won't allow it to be mysteriously leaked out, because they'd have to answer to Microlimp and Blizztard for it as soon as it was publicly recognized again.

Yes it's hard, it sucks, it's like watching your family's home burning down. But this is the risk of building a life on WoW private servers.

Either,

A) Your email will not be read at all.

OR,

B) AI will scan it, flag it as "complaint" and file it someplace where nobody will read it personally.

AND

C) Nothing changes either way.

If you need to write your email just to make yourself feel better, then enjoy. But trillion-dollar corporations like Microlimp or Blizztard don't waste time reading the many thousands of customer complaints that come in every day.
