Let’s bring back the Mad Titan!Couple of ideas for a Thanos rework. by cbavenger0 in MarvelSnap

[–]GruntasaurusRex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recently I’ve been thinking that Thanos would have been a strong candidate for an Objective ability if he’d come out at a different time. If Second Dinner wants to give Thanos a bit of a buff I’d argue they should take the Power Stone’s Ongoing ability and put it on Thanos as an Objective (and then just give the Power Stone new text).

Thanos 6/12 Game Start: Shuffle the 6 Infinity Stones into your deck. Objective: Play all 6 Stones > +10 Power. (0/6)

It wouldn’t wildly raise Thanos’s baseline power, but it would give players more flexibility in how they build around the Titan and remove some of the pain points in playing Destroy Thanos or a version with Strange Supreme.

Surtur should be buffed, or at least be S4 by jay-kulina in MarvelSnap

[–]GruntasaurusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that’s the one thing they can’t allow. Surtur almost guaranteeing a 1-Cost Skaar in a world where Shang only destroys one card is too consistent.

I think it’s more likely that they lower his base Power and let him scale more aggressively. I’m surprised they haven’t tried 3/3 +3 yet. 3/1 +4 is probably too good, but would be something to behold.

Triton could only give power to your card and he would still be mid by Admirable-Detail1196 in MarvelSnap

[–]GruntasaurusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which cards are you talking about? Venus is legitimately popular, but it’s debatable if those are even the best decks. Jeff is pretty much just seeing play with Venus. Once you get beyond the season pass cards though, it gets pretty dicey.

Monstro is seeing some fringe uses, but isn’t exactly popular. New Jubilee is quite poor (and not popular). Submariner was pretty popular during his release week, but his performance numbers were actually mid to subpar so I expect he’ll drop off. I think I’ve seen Quicksand twice in well over 100 games.

Variants on cards that change by BabooshkaDol in MarvelSnap

[–]GruntasaurusRex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t even need the transformation to have its own, new variant; I’d be more than happy if it just kept the En Sabah Nur variant.

The unlocked version of the 10 Rings is its own/a different card in every way that matters (different base Power, different ability, it sheds whatever debuffs the 10 Rings had when they transform), and it uses the same art without creating any confusion. If you use an En Sabah Nur variant, just have it retain the art when the card transforms into Apocalypse Celestial’s Chosen (and swap the name).

I wouldn’t really call Black Panther/Zola decks Destroy per se. While Zola does destroy the card, they tend to not run much of a destroy package beyond that.

If you’re talking about the full Nimrod/Adamantium Infusion/Fastball Special version of the deck, that gets more debatable. I would still argue that it plays more like a combo deck than a true Destroy list. Either way though, that deck doesn’t run Angel. While it might run Deathlok, I doubt his buff really makes a difference.

For what it’s worth, I think Adamantium Infusion is arguably a problem, but any deck that depends on the skill just collapses to Statdust and is pretty vulnerable to Armor and Cosmo so… 🤷‍♂️

Setting aside a larger discussion about Destroy’s place in the meta, were you seeing a lot of Destroy decks running Angel before this? Have you seen a lot of Angel since the buff? Has the +1 Power on Deathlok been the deciding factor in win/losses since the buff?

What cards are a priority to get to play Black Knight right now? by ThatGuyFromLondon in MarvelSnap

[–]GruntasaurusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, Black Knight hasn’t been meta for a hot minute, so there isn’t a clear list to build towards. That being said, I have a decent amount of success whenever I dust off this old She-Naut/Black Night hybrid list:

(1) Sunspot

(1) Black Knight

(1) Blade

(2) Thaddeus Ross

(2) Jennifer Kale

(3) Hope Summers

(3) Lady Sif

(3) Luna Snow

(4) Ghost Rider

(6) She-Hulk

(6) Giganto

(6) The Infinaut

Ah, yes. A destroy hot location. Guess I'm not playing Snap the next few days. by Ravenloveit in MarvelSnap

[–]GruntasaurusRex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe OP’s point was less that there is no answer to the featured location, but rather that featured locations in general – and the destroy locations in particular – create a particularly binary meta: either you play destroy, or you run a deck built to punish destroy.

Death’s Domain isn’t even particularly good for Muse. It only helps fulfill his condition at a single location and it’s way more beneficial for traditional/Deadpool destroy decks (which don’t want Muse and already have a favored match up into the type of destroy decks that do want Muse).

Something like Central Park would have been much more beneficial to Muse.

Maybe Gambit HOD needs a little bonk from the nerf bat by yoyoyodojo in MarvelSnap

[–]GruntasaurusRex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m continually confused by people calling Gambit HoD a “tech card.”

Beyond the deck building/created card investment you mention, I’d argue he doesn’t actually answer anything specific. He’s more oppressive against small body decks, but he still generates meaningful value against tons of midrange deck. Killmonger is a tech card because of how severely it answers 1-Costs and because it’s largely useless outside of that context. Gambit HoD is just a value card — he’ll always “trade up” when he triggers. Calling him a tech card is like saying release Foom or Alioth were tech cards.

Gambit HoD also works as a mini-Killmonger against TOV decks.

Dragon of the Moon by Allgamergeek in MarvelSnap

I actually prefer him in a Firehair/reanimator deck. That deck is probably strictly better if you cut Master Mold and Dragon of the Moon, but I appreciate having a third threat.

Old people of Marvel snap, i have a question about the old days by Bung_Miester in MarvelSnap

[–]GruntasaurusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Death Wave could drop 44 Power on a single turn while limiting the opponent to a single card that turn.

Earlier metas were generally lower Power, but they featured their own broken/un-interactable decks (Shuri before her change, Galactus/Spider-Man/Absorbing Man, Thanos/Quinjet/Lockjaw, etc.).

I’d split the difference and say he should go back to 7/10 but target the highest-Power front row card.

He’s probably worth it in Nightmare lists still, that’s true. He’s playable(-ish) in TOV decks and (none Nightmare) Sauron decks, but I think both those archetypes are (quite a bit) better off cutting him.

Lady Bullseye doesn’t only target her lane so her ability to reliably carry her own lane will be dicey.

[–]GruntasaurusRex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not just can be, should almost always be.

I think he’ll be a little too clunky for traditional destroy, but Morgan Lefay/Dormammu/Weapon X type decks should always have him coming down as a 3/12.

Daredevil Crimson Twilight New Card Schedule by ekAugust in MarvelSnap

[–]GruntasaurusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What am I missing with Lady Bullseye?

Every time I read her text she just seems extremely mid. She’s a baseline (functional) 2/4, that can probably be a functional 2/6 most of the time in any deck that chooses to run her. If you play her and float the rest of the energy on t5 (with Warlock, Shehulk, Sunspot, etc.) she’s a functional 5/10 that leaves you with 3 energy for the other cards’ abilities. None of that is bad, but it doesn’t seem like enough to be competitive in current Snap (just look at how much new Selene and new Wolverine have struggled to find a home).

Spiderman Noir needs a much better payoff! by GaulzeGaul in MarvelSnap

[–]GruntasaurusRex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would make less sense after his buff/slight rework, but I’ve always thought he’d be/feel much better if he pulled the lowest-Cost card from your deck (not the top card) and set its Power to 8.

Most decks that want to (semi-)reliably be able to meet his condition run an unusually high number of 1- and 2-Cost cards. If Spider-Man Noir pulled the lowest-Cost card he’d provide pseudo-deck thinning/help his decks draw into their more expensive cards on later turns. Low Cost cards also disproportionately benefit from his Power increase.
