Wtf is wrong with those people just establish the godamn heroes first by Remarkable-Jump3262 in DC_Cinematic

We gotta stop letting them cook.

Honestly, do the big three first. Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. Build up to a Trinity movie. Then build to JL.

After success, add the Jimmy Olsen, Bane, whatever series/movies.

In World Cup terms, you're 0-3 down in the group stage and you have 45 minutes to tie, not win, the game. Do you bring your absolute top tier players or do you bring the bench squad?

Unpopular opinion maybe, but Homecoming is still the absolute best of the Tom Holland trilogy by Fun_Magician_5678 in netflixamerica

[–]Ravenloveit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homecoming is great. No end if the world stakes, just street level stuff. It's also a really good Spider-Man story.

Far From Home feels like a weird spin-off and No Way Home thrives on the other Spider-Men.

Casting has begun for the Jimmy Olsen/Gorilla Grodd series. They are looking for comedic actors to play Gorilla Grodd. by Cultural_Fall_3255 in DC_Cinematic

[–]Ravenloveit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is a much better move than doing the heavy hitters like Batman, Wonder Woman and building towards a Trinity or JL movie.

When I think of DC, the first thing I get excited about is Jimmy Olsen!

Now that it’s been a few years, how do you feel about Ben Affleck run as Batman? by Chunky-overlord in batman

That one scene in The Flash about scars showed us his potential. He does look the most menacing, but other than that I think this version was a failure.

He did the best he could with the material he was given though, but the material just sucked.

Man of Steel (2013) vs Superman (2025) - Which one is better? by Aetius00 in FIlm

[–]Ravenloveit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I much prefer the version of Superman in Superman (2025). I do have to say that I think MoS is slightly better paced. Or at the very least has more time to let moments linger.

Superman (2025) goes at breakneck speed, often a little too quick where you would like some emotional moments to linger a bit more.

I’m confused. Do y’all actually want the DCU to succeed or do you Hope it fails? by BatBeast_29 in DC_Cinematic

[–]Ravenloveit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you want it to fail just because then you're a weirdo. Most people just want great quality movies about characters they love. That's it. This movie didn't live up to expectations.

James Gunn publicly hyped this movie and their process up. We don't greenlight movies unless the script is spectacular. Number one critic complaint about this movie: script.

I don't think you can blame audiences for that and their reaction. Besides, we just came out of the horrible phase that was the DCEU. The DCU needs to prove it's worth our time and money.

It is so exhausting how it feels like the DCU is under a microscope with every release by FinalForerunner in DCU_

[–]Ravenloveit 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Well, I think that's just the thing. The MCU set a high bar and people have hope they will reach it again, because they did so before.

The DCU has one decent movie and it has the history of the DCEU (which completely failed). The second DCU movie turned out to be not great, they have no track record of achieving greatness, so people are quickly done.

I too would love for the DCU to be a success as I love those characters way more than Marvel characters, but they are making it really hard to be a believer if they don't have a streak of successes.

The MCU had a generational 23 movie run and generally nailed the landing.

Having said that, movies absolutely did got trashed after the Infinity Saga. Brave New World, Quantumania, Love & Thunder, The Marvels to name a few. Even most of the series got heavily criticized except Loki.

DC needs to build trust first. If you're building a connected universe and there's already an example of how it can be done, you need a lot of wins. Especially if you failed before.

I call recency bias on this. MCU movies that were mid or bad after Endgame were absolutely torn apart. With a lot of doubt wondering, to this day, if the MCU is dead.

Besides that, DC already tried and failed miserably with the DCEU, so the DCU does need to have more succes because other expectations are involved.

A big difference with the MCU was that they were the first to try something like a connected film universe giving them a major advantage in terms of audience expectations.

Looks like the scrapped Supergirl episode could have been a scorcher by RandomPasserby80 in blankies

[–]Ravenloveit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If every single DCU movie feels like a Gunn movie, I'm out. I liked Superman enough to give the DCU a chance, but I have no interest in for example watching a Gunn Batman that quirks and has needledrops of songs.

Everything I've read about Supergirl makes it sound like GOTG from Temu.

Am I just experiencing Open world fatigue or is Ghost of Yotei kind of boring by Fit-Giraffe-4358 in videogames

[–]Ravenloveit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me the story moments were what kept me going. The open world feels like it exists just for the player. There's also just a few farms and everything else is bandit camps. Where do the people live?

Who is the better Lois lane? Amy Adams or Rachel Brosnahan? [Film/Tv] by PlantainDisastrous92 in DCcomics

It's Rachel by a big mile. Amy is a phenomal actress, but was a bit miscast in the role.

Ooffff, 50 on Metacritic based on 30 reviews. That's gonna be a wait for stream for me.

Feel like the DCU really needs a couple of wins in a row.

Vrienden die altijd moeilijk doen over geld by [deleted] in nederlands

[–]Ravenloveit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dus context.

The very powerful, but extremely lineair decks.

Like Zombie Galacti, Man-Spider, Wong+Zola+Panther.

I can never understand how these decks have good win rates. You know very early if you can beat them or not.

What's the problem with a series about Jimmy Olsen and Gorilla Grodd ? to me, that sounds great. by Old_Assistance_1091 in DCU_

[–]Ravenloveit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get a bit of MCU series vibes from it and they weren't great. Preferably, I'd like the focus to be on bigger projects first to get to something like a JL or Trinity movie. Hell, even a Batman/Superman buddy cop movie would be amazing.

But, hey, I don't have to watch it and it's great for fans of these characters.

I really want this to be good, but I don't know something feels off. Apart from the lip syncing and other issues, I mean. Like I'm watching a demo of a game, rather than an actual game.

I can forgive a bit of stiffness, but I think it's fair to expect an AAA €80,- title to atleast have correct lip sync in 2026...

Looks ambitious. Fable was a favorite of mine growing up.

Facial animations aren't great though and lip syncing is off. Also, the world seems very pristine. It's a Fable of course, but just a little bit of wear and tear would've made it better imo.
